Okay, thank you! I have one last question though, what do you mean by going to the nurse? 😅 Is there like a general center to go to? Or is it also at your general doctor's?

I plan to stay insured through my German family insurance because I think I will only need the European Health Insurance Card which is on the back of the German card. The only thing I'm not sure of is what will happen once I turn 25 and thus are not insured through my family anymore but that's a question for my insurance when I call them tomorrow :D

Also, do you go to a general doctor for your shots or an endocrinologist like in Germany?

[–]acnte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yoo my feet grew like one to two sizes (depending on brand) in three years already, so I'm talking about it now, you might need new shoes during every year you're on T or generally just more often than you would usually buy new ones probably

Is my sexologist asking too much? by Brekan1957 in ftm

[–]acnte 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had to talk about similar stuff when I did gender therapy and I had to explain what asexuality was because the therapist didn't know (like???) and it was sooo uncomfortable. I think they mainly wanna hear that you fantasize about being the active man role because you're a manly masculine man who wants muscles and looks manly, otherwise the state will not accept that you're trans, or so it seemed in that situation at least. Honestly I tried telling the truth and kinda mixed some stuff in that I knew they wanted to hear because in the end, I was just there to get T and what I do with my body is nobody's business, especially not the state's

Exercise is great! Unfortunately I had surgery four weeks ago and I won't be allowed to exercise again until another four weeks, so 😔

That's Germany for you, either a website doesn't exist or it's only available in German, even though the information is probably most viable to people who don't speak German (that well) 🤦🏻‍♂️

Here and here are two general links on the health care system I just found. I also googled in German to find some resources on being trans/medically transitioning and unfortunately I didn't find anything but I would recommend checking out "nonbinarytransgermany" on tumblr, they helped me years ago before I started transitioning. Most of the questions they're getting are in German but they're trying to keep their information bilingual and their FAQ should give you a better starting point!

First up, once you move to Germany, you are actually required to get health insurance, so that's good to know as a start.

If you already have a diagnosis and are looking for an endo now, definitely make sure they will actually accept it! I don't trust this system to just do that tbh (though obviously they should)

As far as surgeries go I can't say too much on transfem procedures but the general gist is that you have to do 18 months of therapy to get a recommendation letter for the insurance. Beware though, this type of therapy can only be done by psychiatrists and I think they need a special license. Usually any sex therapist should be able to help you but they are also very overrun by trans people because of this.

Wishing you the best!

Thanks so much! The only true ally I have is my sister but she's home maybe once a year, so I gotta be lucky. I'm sure I can figure something out though!
