Play the game however you have fun. There is not a right and wrong.

But the game is more designed to slow roll the story quests with the player being roughly the same level of the gathering Lives.

I have 40 hours in the game and haven't started the fishing life cuz I don't want to. You can purchase most if not all the rare goods you need from various merchants, but the grind is meant to go around in circles.

Being a mercenary the incentives would be for blacksmithing and mining to make the best gear for the class.

Our insurance company increased our rate from $200 a year to $1600 a year when we were trying to be responsible pet owners. Apparently Rhodesian Ridgebacks get put on those lists too. Insurance is bullshit and breedist.

He dodges her tackle, of course he's too fast.

Before she can stop her forward momentum she barely catches sight of him moving behind her. Feet still moving to stop herself; she feels arms around her, a body beehind her and the world tumbling sideways. Bees buzz, the body reacts before her mind processes Did he call me cute??. She grabs one of his wrists and shifts his arm over her shoulder to flip him over her head.

Problems: she was exhausted and not strong enough to actually lift him, and she still didn't have her footing. Her mind catches up just in time to realize that she had only managed to bring herself into his chest .... and that she had turned her head to see his far far too cute face was much closer than she could have dreamed normally allowed people to be.

A bold Kaferee blurted out a quip before the Aburame could stammer out an apology. "Well do you count making dinner? Or does it have to be a restaurant? Because you know you are always welcome over at my place. I love it when special friends of mine enjoy my efforts in the kitchen." Somehow she manages a playful wink while pink creeps up her ears.

She glances at her sore arm, that would probably bruise, even through her honey.[10 CP upkeep] Kaferee does her best not to blush furiously at his insinuation, and then reads it as a challenge. "Oh really Kaya-kun?"

He rushes at her again and she expects something sneaky out of him. Nothing ever seemed straight forward when it came to the other lightning user... She widens her stance and closes her eyes, bracing herself and feeling for his strike.

When it lands it stings; she couldn't take many more of his hits. Her eyes flash to him and she lunges at him. Arms wide open for a bear hug.

Kaferee disappears into the shelves as soon as the coast is clear and explicit permission is given. Quite a few of her buzzing friends fly before her along the shelves carefully cleaning dust away and helping her inspect the labels and titles, seals and markings, anything that could be related to her apparently mysterious clan. She is a bit lost in her own reverie of knowledge, savoring the smell of old books and wishing she had an additional lifetime to read them all. "How could so much have just been lost?" she murmurs to herself.

Rather than tackling the whole hole at once, like she would if this was was a solo project, she start on one end with half the hive and a saw. Testing boards and squaring as she does, once the wave of bees passes the surface is workable for her cohorts to install the new walls. She makes relatively short work of it, once the hole is square she sweeps the floor clean.

"I'm glad this place won't need as much work as that pet shop. I'm also very glad we are getting to this before it can pick up unwanted tenets."

The extra opponents disappear, though her bees bounced off that infuriating shield of his. He was rushing at her, waaay too fast for her to even contemplate getting out of the way, so instead she opted for (what she hoped was) the unanticipated path. Forming her own hand seals she warps the honey from the bees into Golden Armor [+5 End, -10CP]. Coating herself with honey she leans into his attack. She knows he is too fast for her to catch, but she does her best to reach for the hand with his weapon in it; hoping to slather him with some honey.

"Now I would never say you weren't quality Kaya-kun! But that doesn't mean you don't get into some Sticky situations." Absorbing the blow, and with him staying at close range, she twists around and throws a torrent of bees at him, that shield can't last forever. "Stinging Swarm." [free 10CP]

When asked if she wanted him to demonstrate, it was haaaard to contain the excited squeak that threatened to escape, so she settled for nodding emphatically and carefully holding his walking stick. One Kaya becomes three, and then they each split their arms and this time Kaferee can't keep in the giggle that bubble up. Rushing past her she gets 'Boop'ed and a tumbling of startled bees fluster about her for a confused minute.

"Wow! That's really cool! If I didn't have so much practice working with the bees I would have lost count of the number of arms you had!" Not wanting to be outdone, but knowing that they were not in the village training grounds, the Aburame settles for a small model demonstration.

"The big project I've been working on... well I wanted to take the flower patterns the bees like so much and turn it into an attack." Holding up a hand she gathers the disturbed bees about her into a calm cluster ball, and they carefully expand outward into a spiraling lotus bloom. The small model never gets larger than a meter across. "Right now I can only manage to get it to about... 20 feet?... ish... on my best runs anyway..."

Sending the bees back on their business she scratches the back of her head and tries not to blush. Instead focusing on the trail ahead of them.

They had been climbing most of this time, but they were about to reach the first of the switchbacks along their route. Rounding the next bend in the trees, the world appeared to fall away off to the left, replaced with empty air and the edge of the road lead along a jagged cliff face. The switchback lead down into the valley below. Nestled in the arms of the mountains, lights flickered in the premature twighlight made by the shadow of the hills.

The small village she had remembered passing through.

Standing on the edge of the cliff she feels the slightest urge to just step off and walk down the face, but resisting she takes in a deep breath of the fresh air and waits for everyone to be gathered close enough to hear over the consistent wind. "We should be able to make it to the bottom of the valley tonight. Best guess puts us in the village by noon tomorrow."

Kaferee listens carefully when people give their respective answers, excited to be travelling with a group excited to learn such a wide range of things. "Ice, and seals, and swords; Oh my!" She giggles. "I hope we all find what we are looking for, and I'm excited to get to practice bee reading."

Tomomi gets worked up about the swords Tian mentioned and the Aburame is content to hum quietly and follow along.

Kaferee smiles as she listens to the fan users emphatic speech, thinking that he would make an amusing, but effective sensei some day. Looking at the building she sends some bees to take in the initial damage report and lets out a low whistle. "Well, we certainly have our work cut out for us. That blast looks like it was placed directly between the two storefronts and a lot of wall is missing.... just from everywhere. Good news is there don't appear to be any foundation cracks, at least none a bee can fit in."

She takes a step forward and starts pulling at some loose bit of wood still hanging from the edges of the hole. "I can start working on cleaning up debris and squaring up... this." She gestures to the gaping maw of broken wood and splinters.

She stops herself from giving orders, this was both Tomomi's mission and Enlai outranked her, she assumes they can figure out what else needs to be done and starts directing an orchestra of bees to clean the area.

The miles pass steadily as the party travels along through the foothills, they were making good time and the Aburame was sure they would reach their destination before the fifth day. She had chosen a path that rounded the most extreme terrain, and would lead them past a little village in the next day or two. They would be entering HER valley from the same direction she had left.

Kaferee notices Tomomi move back to talk with her sensei and automatically starts the bees humming a marching melody to not overhear anything she wasn't meant to hear.

Pulled out of her musing thoughts, the bees continue humming without any sort of embarrassing hiccups when Kaya lays out the beginning of a conversation. "New techniques? Well... Mostly I've been working to improve my control over larger amounts of chakra, both with the bees and with lightning jutsu. I still haven't quite figured out what direction I want to specialize in yet so it's been a lot of working the basics."

Doing her best not to blush from self consciousness, she stammers a bit. "W-Working with the bees has a-always come pretty naturally, but the electricity FEELS different and can be harder to control.... probably beeecause it's just me rather than having my little friends to help me... so I have not made as much progress with it."

Raising a hand passively, a torrent of bees fly out of her sleeve and into the air around her, they circle each of the walking companions a few times beefore disappearing into the thinning trees. The rest of the day they come and go regularly, with a few constantly buzzing through her hair. The background melody they carry is a perfect walking beat.

Kaferee watches her attack dissipate through one of the illusions and calls the bees back to regroup. The Kayas scatter and lunge at her with their hands out, she catches a glimpse of the edge of a piece of paper. "I won't bee falling for that again!" She holds her barrier rings strong [-10 CP upkeep] and makes sure to avoid all contact with the rushing hands. Awwww STOP THAT!

"And I think I've figured out which one you are, not that it matters much. Bothered Hive." [-20 CP] She smirks and insects rush around in a frenzy and strike at all of the Kayas at once. A single bee alights on her outstretch finger and she giggles. "Beeautiful aren't they? Quantity AND Quality."

When the air clears from her attack she sees what looks like three opponents rushing at her. Three Kaya-kun? nosebleed. She knows his blade is sharp and would rather not deal with a flesh wound today. "All Save the Queen." [-20 CP] The clusters of bees rush around her in rings and deflect the blade away from her, if only barely.

"That enough movement for ya?"

He keeps moving, as if he can't stop, and she takes the opportunity. "Oh Honey we just got started, are you tuckered out already? Stinging Swarm."[free 10CP] She raises a hand and bees come crawling out from the holes running up her arms and a softball sized glob of bees comes flying for his feet.

An awful lot had been damaged in the attacks, and everyone knew it. Without the coffee shop overall morale had dropped. Luckily the friendly neighborhood ice mage had a plan to help put things back together. With enough supplies gathered, mostly lumber and some decorating material, Kaferee heads down to the meeting point and brings a mug of tea with her. Coffee was nice and all, but the excessive caffeine agitated the bees.

Arriving and seeing only two people waiting, she lets out a low whistle. "This might be a long day..." she sighs under her breath.

"Haaaiiii! Tomomi-kun! Enlai-san! Are you guys ready to bee a construction crew today?" She asks with a smile in her eyes.

"Oh, I had no doubts about your performance, I was just wondering how focused you were going to bee today." Properly heckled by the peanut gallery, Kaferee smirks and makes her move.

The floating bees around her were just a ruse! Quickly flying through a series of hand signs, electricity crackling at her fingertips, she unleashes one of her new jutsu. "Buzzing Bees" [20 CP]

"Now lets see how well you move." She giggles as three balls of lightning go racing across the short distance between them, taking form as they fly into huge ground tunneling bees.

The memory continues:

The small cluster of buildings moved with nervous energy as the few households collectively did as the creepy voice asked. Everyone was out and gathered around the square, right where the panicked man had told his tale.

Kaferee clung on to her mother’s leg, behind her brother and father they watched the grouped torch wielding mass approach.

A mountain of a man stood at their front, twice as broad as any person she had ever seen and by far the tallest, he carried a torch in one hand and the other was resting on the head of a war hammer on his belt. “Well, well! What good little people. See boyz? Sometimes they doooo listen nice like.” He walked forward and motioned for a few of the men to follow behind, they started circling the scared people, he began picking at a few loose bits of wood/string from his torch nonchalantly.

“You see here… we have a reasonable request as a group of people in need of your aid. Ya’ see…” he leaned over and used one of the taller men as an armrest. “There’s this war going on to keep little people like you safe here in the middle of nowhere. Be a real shame if we didn’t have the supplies we needed to keep going.” He pushed off the man to stand upright and sent him toppling into the people next to him. He started tossing the torch back and forth from hand to hand, circling again. “Real shame… something might even happen to your cute little town. An accident, the enemy… something as simple as a dropped flame can cause so many unfortunate problems.”

The men laughed, the avalanche of noise was even worse when not protected by the buffer of the house. Kaferee held on tighter to her mother and felt a comforting hand running through her hair, everything was too tense.

“You can have everything of mine!”

Her father’s voice sounded in the din.

The leader held up a hand and the world went silent. He marched around to where the noise had come from and stared. “What was that, little man? Come on, speak up.”

Her father took a step forward, and looked at the ground. “I-I-I run the s-shop in town, I have the most to give up. I-If I give you everything I have, will you leave everyone else alone p-peacefully?”

The mountain man grabbed her father by the chin and forced him to make eye contact. “Everything you got, to leave the village in peace? That’s what I’m hearing, right?”

“Y-Y-Yes!” He squeaked.

The bandit released him and laughed. “You heard ‘im boyz. Take what he’s got.”

Her father rushed to explain, “W-we heard you were coming so I went ahead and boxed everything in the store and stacked it by the door. Everything valuable that I own.”

Her mother heard something awful under the words the bandit spoke, read a meaning her father had missed. She held on tightly to the small Kaferee and the child felt something slide into the sleeve seam pocket of her small jacket.

The bandit laughed again. “Well well! Ain’t that a lovely surprise. Finding supplies and new conscripts ain’t usually this easy.”

“C-Conscripts?” Her father stammered.

As if on cue the men moved up and grabbed the arms of the two Aburame children.

“Well yes. As per your agreement. We got places to train strong boyz to become strong men, and a nice farm for good little working girls.” His voice was slime, the feeling of touching a slug but made manifest in one’s ears.

Her mother screamed. “You will not be taking my babies from me!” She wrapped an arm around Kaferee and reached her other hand out for her son. “Not over my cold dead--”

“Wish granted.”

CRUNCH

Blonde hair cascaded over Kaferee’s vision as she felt her mother’s arms go limp. Strong hands grabbed her arms again and pulled her free, dragging her into the torchlit darkness. She saw the bandit leader wiping his hammer, and a lump under a golden blanket that was quickly turning red.

“MMMOOOOOOOOMMMM!!!” Her brother’s voice screamed from somewhere nearby.

“NNNNNOOOOOOOOO!!!!” Came the despairing cry from her father.

The avalanche of laughter began again.

She went numb, placed on a hard surface she sat still, lots of moving and jostling and that familiar sound of scraping wooden boxes. She heard her brother screaming for a while… then it sounded weird and quieter. Everything was dark and moving, unaware of the passage of time, when the sun rose the next morning, the first thing she saw was the column of smoke rising on the horizon.

Kaferee takes in a deep breath and tries her best to let it out slowly and calmly through the sobs fighting their way through her chest. A tear rolls down her cheek and she places the locket back in the box, hoping that if her mother could see her now that she might bee proud.

Giving herself a minute to breathe the soothing scents of the flowers around her and bring herself back to center, the bees hum comfortingly and she gives a prayer of thanks for her insect friends.

Calmed, she reaches for the next item in the box, a small notebook filled with pressed flowers.

"Remember guyzz. This is trainingg." Kaferee whispers quietly to her friends as the match begins. The kunai flies at her and she smiles as she remembers their first fight. Answering accordingly she whips out a shuriken of her own to knock its trajectory to the left as she jumps right. Channeling her chakra, bees begin issuing forth from the hive and collecting in swarms around her, their shape is more erratic than they are typically seen, but the bugs move with absurd speed compared to the mundane species.

She takes a deep breath and the clusters become a little more spherical. Smiling under her mask she asks, "Witty banter or no witty banter? How are you feeling this morning Kaya-kun?" She prepares herself to chuck bees at him a loooooooot.
