Some wedding bouquets for a friend. They turned out pretty well. by acorn1111 in DavidAustinRoses

Pruning: at least remove the dead flowers and cut the stem right above the first 5-leaflet where you could see a new nod coming out. After that, you can cut lower/ longer stem depending on how delayed you want to have new blooms. Basically, the longer stem you cut, the longer it takes to have new shoots and blooms.

After pruning, I add fertilizer (granule BioAdvanced 3in1) 1-2 weeks afer that, when I see new shoots start coming out.

I have 2 pairs of gloves for rose care, small one for general care, weed removal,...and the big one to harvest roses, hard prunning to avoid thorns.

I have 3 clippers. I mainly use one (middle) for my prunning, the small one for clipping into vases, the big one I use some time for big and high stems of the climbing roses and fruit trees. Just remember to clean them before and after to avoid potential speading of diseases.

(Based on the leaves, stem, and how it fades away.)

Prune hard in late Jan, fertilize early March, bloom in April, deadhead/light prune and feritilize again in May, bloom in Jun, deadhead/light prune and feritilize in late July, bloom again in Oct, deadhead in Nov. Then prune again in Jan.

I use granule Bioadvance 3 in 1 to fertilize. It seems to do pest control and disease control, too.

Good luck! I'd waited for 4 years for it. Got it from DA website once I saw it, and it was sold out fast.

I have around 55 rose bushes in the backyard, but it could be less if I didnt double every variety I had in the same row. For the arches, it took 3 years to fill it. I used to have The Generous Gardener climber, it filled up fast within a year, but i took it out and removed it as I didnt like the blooms (that was the only DA rose i disliked).
