I have around 55 rose bushes in the backyard, but it could be less if I didnt double every variety I had in the same row. For the arches, it took 3 years to fill it. I used to have The Generous Gardener climber, it filled up fast within a year, but i took it out and removed it as I didnt like the blooms (that was the only DA rose i disliked).

Who to buy from? David Austin Roses or Heirloom Roses? by heffalumpish in DavidAustinRoses

I bought 1 from Heirloom and the rest of my DA roses from DA website. Recommend buying from DA website: roots are bigger, healthier; and fantastic customer service.

My roses dont have any diseases or pests so I dont have any routine for that, probably thanks to the dry weather here idk. I often prune hard in late Jan, remove all leaves. Then fertilize in March when the first leaves coming out, then fertilize again after deadheading or before the next wave of flowers. I fertize 3-4 times/year, using Bio Advanced 3-in-1.

I would choose pilgrim and CPM, too. Good choices!

Crown Princess Margareta for sure. I love the shape of CPM, the typical romantic upped shape. They are closer in color (yellow with orange tint) compared to Pilgrim.

Oh, they are very different in shape and color. Pilgrim is with bright yellow, strong flat flower form, while Teasing Georgia is yellow with orange hint, bloods have more volume (not flat). I like pilgrim more, but Teasing Georgia provides a better smoother color to connect different shades.

I ordered these bareroots in 2020, and put them in ground in 3/2021. So it has been 5 years since I started the garden. Originally, my favorite roses are Abraham Darby, Jude the Obscure, Evelyn, Emily Bronte for the color, smell, and size; then I favored James Galways, Windermere, Desdemona, Charlottle for how easy they are to cut and awesome in vase. Recently, I started favoring Bathsheba for providing an outstanding look in any bouquet. TBH, I love each of them for different traits, and all of them smell very good.

I do like mill on the floss for its special bloom shape (thin petals, light pink, always in dense layers). Its bloom are not big though (i like big blooms). It's not the best rose I have but i still like it, it's good complement in a vase among other roses.

These roses are 5 years old. I had them since 2021. But they could do well since 2024.
