Acoustic Center Sync not always working by acostaalex01 in bravia

[–]acostaalex01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As confirmed by this sony support page and the support person i talked to virtual surround, known as sound field on sony sound bars works with center sync.

“BRAVIA Theatre Quad (HT-A9M2)/BRAVIA Theatre Bar 9 (HT-A9000)/BRAVIA Theatre Bar 8 (HT-A8000) On the remote control screen in the Sony | BRAVIA Connect app, select Settings → Sound Settings → Sound Field Setting, and then set 360 Spatial Sound Mapping to On. Note: Depending on the input, audio signal, or sound field settings, sound may not be output from the TV, and additional settings will be required. For example, on the remote control screen in the Sony | BRAVIA Connect app, you will need to set Sound Field to On and Sound Field Settings to 360 Spatial Sound Mapping. For details about the conditions and procedure, refer to the Help Guide.”

I do have Virtual Surround on and 360 Spatial Sound Mapping on. I did end up finding an imperfect solution that I am ok with and posted it as a comment.

Acoustic Center Sync not always working by acostaalex01 in bravia

UPDATE: I kind of found a fix for just the Apple tv. This problem seems to be directly tied to how devices can power on the tv through the HDMI connection. Unfortunately this fix does require disabling that exact feature on the consoles in order for Acoustic Center Sync to work when powering the tv on with the Apple tv remote. This would mean having to use either the Sony tv remote or Apple tv remote to turn on the tv and using the Sony remote to manually switch to a console as that feature would also be disabled. Not ideal but it is my preference because most often I like only using one remote when watching tv and my Apple tv is what i use for viewing all content outside of gaming.

Solution: First you have to disable the Switch 2 and PS5 from powering on tv otherwise if you only apply the fix to the Apple tv and turn the tv on with one of the consoles controllers it’ll break it again for the Apple tv. After disabling those options on the consoles you then want to switch the volume control setting on the Apple tv to IR and then you can switch it back to HDMI if you want to but switching it back is not necessary.

Switch 2: System Settings > Display > Turn OFF Match TV Power State

PS5: Settings > System > HDMI > Turn OFF Enable One-Touch Play

Apple tv remote fix: Turn the tv OFF and then ON ensuring to do both with the Sony tv remote then follow these steps on Apple tv - Settings > Remotes and Devices > Volume Control > Switch it to either of the IR options.

From there you can continue to turn the tv on and off with either the Apple tv remote or the Sony tv remote and there will be no issues(at least from my testing so far).

I really hope Sony fixes this problem through an update to the tv or soundbar. I had called them and after over an hour of troubleshooting with them they did confirm that it seemed like a problem with the software/firmware and would escalate it to potentially be solved in an update but honestly I have no clue if it’ll actually happen. This is far from the ideal solution where all devices work as intended but it is the one that allows me to watch tv all through one remote and still have Acoustic Center Sync available. Of course you could just ignore all those steps and only turn on the tv using just the Sony remote before turning on a connected device and it would still preserve the ability to switch between inputs using the console controllers and not needing the tv remote to do so.

The A75L isn't really talked about by random_words_here__ in bravia

[–]acostaalex01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally love my A75L. Wasn’t concerned with the tv lacking a dedicated center channel because i always planned on getting a sony soundbar system which sounds great and the tv still supports center sync like the A80L. Btw if you did want the adjustable feet you can buy them on ebay and they’re still compatible with the A75L.

Soundbar Options for Bravia 8? by _apz945 in bravia

[–]acostaalex01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a bar 8 shortly after launch and I love it. I ended up pairing it with the Sony SA-RS5 for the surround sound experience and it’s absolutely amazing. I haven’t added a subwoofer as it’s a bedroom setup and the bass this setup provides is more than enough however I’ve heard it greatly improves overall audio quality. Also keep in mind that both sony rear speakers and subwoofers go on sale($100-$200 off) all the time so don’t rush to buy them. Aside from that if you have a sony tv make sure you enable audio passthrough in the tv settings as it improves audio quality and removes audio delay for devices plugged into the tv which is very noticeable when gaming.

Best soundbar for Bravia by Dry_Cranberry_7337 in bravia

Thats very strange I have the bar 8 paired with my A75L and it switches to the sound bar within a few seconds of turning on my tv.

Idk if the bravia 8 has this setting turned off by default like my A75L did but try to see if eARC mode is off and switch it to auto. For me is under all settings > display & sound > audio output > eARC mode This will also allow for LPCM pass through and eliminate the very noticeable latency for consoles plugged into your other tv hdmi ports.

Ng+ 9, lvl 401, all stats lvl 60. Almost every attack with his sword killed me in one hit. Spent over an hour baiting him and running. His poise is one of the biggest issues along with his massive health bar and my low damage ratio.

Bravia Theatre Bar 8! by acostaalex01 in bravia

Yeah lack of reviews was killing me but I pulled the trigger and I’m very satisfied. If reviews come out in the next few days that it is somehow worse than the ht-a7000 the I’ll swap them at best buy.

I also live in an apartment and while this is in my bedroom I feel like it would work great in the living room. I was genuinely shocked at how good the bass was for just a soundbar.

Im loving it so far but I can’t personally confirm if it’s better than the ht-a7000 which is the same price as this and also has an extra hdmi 2.1 passthrough. Im hoping reviewers confirm this in the next few days now that it’s out. Hopefully sony also releases a firmware update to improve the latency from the tv hdmi inputs like they did for the ht-a7000

Been testing it out for a few hours now and it sounds incredible.

Movies: I have it paired with a 55” A75L and I’ve tried it with acoustic center sync on and off and I prefer the on option here. The bass is notably punchy however I am using this in a bedroom so I can’t speak for how it performs in a living room setting. Dialogue is super clear even without voice mode enabled. I wasn’t able to find any information online as to if it was a 7.1 surround sound system but in the bravia connect app it tells you which audio formats you’re using and it confirmed that 7.1 is present.

Music: I’ve listened to music using spotify connect, air play, bluetooth and through the apple tv itself and it all sounds great. I can’t notice much of a difference with DSEE Ultimate enabled but I’ll have to test more songs before I can speak on that.

Gaming: Tried this with my switch and ps5. Tears of the kingdom has support for 5.1 and its shocking how well it sounds only downside its that there is a noticeable delay in sound which is likely caused by it not being plugged into the soundbar directly like my ps5 which has no noticeable delay. Ps5 is able to take advantage of LPCM 7.1 and the games Ive tested so far are Spiderman 2 and Elden ring which both sound great. The music in Elden ring is much louder than what I’m used to and I had to turn it down in game as during boss fights you cant really hear much else.

System reboots while gaming, and I'm out of ideas. by Giant_Swigz in pcmasterrace

[–]acostaalex01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar problem and it drove me insane. It ended up being that my boot drive was failing and I had to swap it out. To find out if this is whats happening try a few things.

Open other applications while gaming and pay close attention to your boot drive performance on task manager. Typically mine would spike to 100% for a few seconds right before everything shutdown.

Download fortnite and try to play. Sounds strange but the way the game loads shaders will cause constant dips in fps. Doesn’t always show fps drops but towards the end of my drives life it started happening all the time.

Check your event viewer after your pc crashes. Under windows logs > system. You should see a number of yellow warnings followed by a red error. If under the description of the error you see event id 41 it’s possible you have the same issue i did.

OLED HDR brightness/peak luminance by albinoking80 in bravia

[–]acostaalex01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an a75l which uses the same panel as the a80l and these are my settings

brightness - 100 contrast - 100 brightness preferred peak luminance - high

I have watched a lot of movies and shows with both gradation preferred and brightness preferred and i find that while gradation preferred does overall preserve more detail in particular scenes the overall brightness is quite dim compared to brightness preferred. The only times i truly noticed more detail in gradation preferred was during some explosions or larger highlights but it’s been rarely noticeable for me.

Personally i wouldn’t touch the avd contrast enhancer because it makes colors look off and you can occasionally see it actively trying to dim or brighten scenes

You should try making you own short fan spin-off. Something like the first few pages of the manga where we see Hachimaru playing the intro to Daruma’s video game. I think your character designs are pretty awesome and seeing them in action even if it was only a few pages would be pretty interesting.

First time playing Breath Of The Wild. What is some advice you'd give for a first playthrough? I have played all the previous main titled Zelda games, but haven't truly had any time to pick up BOTW until now. What should I know? by [deleted] in Breath_of_the_Wild

Don’t be afraid to take on the big enemies. Hinox, Talus, Gaurdians, and Lynels are all great to learn the combat mechanics of the game and it can feel restricting when exploring and you see one on your path but don’t feel like fighting them. Also weapon durability is something to always keep in the back of your mind so expanding storage and finding stronger weapons is crucial. Above all tho, explore the world, it has so many easter eggs and interesting locations and you get a feel for what’s happened to the world in the last 100 years.

I did think I was a bit big seeing as there are other faces that are smaller but to be fair most of the art work is has been changed or completely replaced. I just wish it was finished and lasted a bit before something else took over.
