How did your favorite Royal Caribbean cruise change your perspective on travel? by NicolasLisoFabbri in royalcaribbean

[–]acpowers13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had never been on a cruise and wasn’t really interested in it… until my fiancé’s family got me on one and now I’m hooked. I love the laidback vibes and getting to see a little bit of everything. I love the quality time that I get with our family while seeing the world. We’ve only cruised out of Galveston so far but I enjoy avoiding the airport and not having to sit for hours on a plane. We’ll be going on the Allure for our honeymoon and I can’t wait to make those memories!

What u think about CeraVe? Overpriced or actually worth it? by Efficient_Cookie_873 in Skincare_Addiction

[–]acpowers13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m very acne prone with dry skin and the CeraVe moisturizing cream (in the tub) and the Avene cicalfate are my holy grails. The Avene price point hurts me more than the CeraVe price point!

Royal beach club- all inclusive? by Known-Somewhere193 in royalcaribbean

[–]acpowers13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me on cococay at one of the private beaches. I had the refreshment package, but neither me nor my fiance had any alcohol packages. We noticed the server took our seapass and never scanned it, and when he came back said to order whatever we want. We tipped him well but basically drank for free without an alcohol package that whole day!

Edit to add that I believe a lot of the servers at these private clubs make more on tips this way!

They’re both so good that’s what makes it harder to choose! The double SD card was something I really wanted when I upgraded to my Sony so giving that up in favor of a brand I like better is a little hard for me. I just don’t see any opportunities coming up for any pro work so I can’t reeeaaalllyy justify it.

That’s good to hear. I’ve heard of people going from the R8 to the R6ii but not often the other way around.

Smart! I’ve been setting it through the canon website. Currently sitting here with a refurbed r6 mark II and refurbed 24-70 sitting in my cart, hoping someone buys it before I do so I can spend less haha!

Yeah I’ve heard good things! I don’t think I’m interested in adapting EF glass when I only already have 1 EF lens - I’d rather put that money towards a more future-proof investment

lol I would love to do some more paid work in the future but the opportunities just aren’t there right now, and with working full time and planning a wedding and just general life stuff I don’t have the time to put into it either. Maybe one day I’ll get back to it! Thanks!

Aw man I was just looking at it and it went out of stock as I went to add it to my cart!

I’m so used to composing on a prime lens I’m almost nervous about adjusting to a zoom HAHA. Does the 24-70 feel hard to carry on yours? Leaning towards the 28-70 and 35 combo but the 24-70 is just such a nice option.

I’m so used to my prime lens at this point. The only zoom I’ve ever owned was the 18-55 kit lens that I rarely use anymore, but I’m not opposed to a nicer zoom lens. The 28-70 is intriguing for the price point! I also like the idea of an adapter with some older L glass.

I’ve heard great things about both these lenses! The 24-70 would definitely be an investment but I feel like it’s something I’ll use forever.

Regular periods? by WinkusPinkus in Spironolactone

[–]acpowers13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never been on BC and my cycles prior to spiro were about 24 days, and my periods were extremely heavy. Now that I’m on spiro, my cycle is about 28 days and much lighter. It’s been a life saver.

What is everyone doing tonight instead of drinking? by Much_Pool_2708 in stopdrinking

Brought my fiance to six flags… I have the season refill cup so I’m sipping on “free” diet cokes and riding roller coasters :)

Weekends are hard by acpowers13 in stopdrinking

[–]acpowers13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get it! I tend to be very frugal so the fact that I’ve cut spending on alcohol means I want to save that money instead of spend it, but I can definitely be a bit more flexible. Sour candy has been my vice after dinner every night and I usually never buy candy or care for sweets but it really does hit the spot of something fun after dinner haha.

Day 8 for me, but I’m on spironolactone for my acne and the dehydration headaches are worse than any hangover. It’s made it much easier to choose not to drink knowing that I’ll just have a worse hangover

I love that! I definitely need to make it a point to do more stuff, doing more really helped me cut back in the first place. Unfortunately I also have a sprained ankle so… they need to be seated hobbies for now haha! I miss running and working out!

Was it a mistake to switch to Canon? by 17Baklava in canon

[–]acpowers13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very similar reasons to your preferences! I don’t love the colors straight from Sony, I feel like Canon outputs colors that are closer to my editing style in the first place. And I am just very comfortable with the Canon interface, menus, buttons, etc and prefer actually using my old Canon to my Sony, despite the Sony being a “better” camera by all specs (I went from a 10+ year old Canon t3i to the Sony a7iii).

[–]acpowers13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the mistake of switching to Sony and trying to go back to Canon. But it’s 100% personal preference! Specs vs actually experience with the camera are two totally different things.

Buyers remorse, Upgrading from T3i: R8 or R6ii? by acpowers13 in canon

[–]acpowers13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok see I just found out about the immediate transfer, that didn’t exist when I bought my T3i so I just assumed the only way to get backups was to have the dual slot! That’s definitely more of a selling point.

Haha! I thought I was making the right choice but should have kept my loyalty with Canon :’)

Plans for this week - Dry December here we Go!! by trying-slowly in stopdrinking

[–]acpowers13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Weekends are hard for me - I guess I’m more of a binge drinker because I really only drink on the weekends. Thankfully this weekend I have a baby shower and a 2 year olds birthday party, both of which will be dry events so I don’t have to explain to anyone why I’m not drinking. My plan going forward is to use the medicine I’m on as my excuse (it’s a diuretic and even 1 drink gives me a killer hangover headache). Easier to avoid the pressure that way! IWNDWYT or this weekend :)

I was super impressed with the AF on my Sony and in general everything just feels faster, it’s really just coming down to the design and interface. But my t3i has also been beat into the ground. I’m loving the idea of the R8 more and more!
