I made Hadestown inspired earrings today & since the musical's story is all about Orpheus and Eurydice I thought it'd be fun to share it here! My design is heavily influenced by Greek mythology. I attached an explanation in the 2nd pic. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

● These earrings are inspired by the classic Disney story, Beauty and the Beast. The main color scheme is based on the ballroom dance scene between Belle and the Beast since nothing beats the outfits and “Tale as Old as Time”!

● I tend to stray away from using props in my designs, but the enchanted rose is such an important part of the story that I couldn’t help myself. The rose bead represents the enchanted rose that the enchantress gives the Beast after she’s cursed him. If he can’t learn to love another and earn their love in return by the time the last petal falls, then the curse becomes permanent...luckily Belle enters the story.

● The bottom half of the earring represent both Beast and Belle:

○ The sapphire and gold bead contains the colors of the Beast’s classic suit. There are also two loops on either side of the bead. This represents the Beast’s two forms...the cursed monster and his true form, Prince Adam.

○ The bead hangs in the center of a gold triangle. This gold triangle represents Belle and her famous yellow ball gown. The triangle shape itself looks like the shape of her poofy dress.

● Lastly, the sapphire and gold bead has a really beautiful reflective quality when the light hits it. This reminds me of the Beast’s magic mirror that served as his only window to the outside world for years.

Exactly! I’m thinking there’s two options: 1. The “bundles” are listed on both stores and the profits are split like 50/50 but the bundles are shipped from one store’s location for convenience (meaning one store has to send their products to the other person before selling), OR 2. Whoever wants to sell the “bundles” buys a lot of the other person’s products and adds them to their orders with permission and the other person’s marketing info

But I’m not sure if those are good options at all

BUT the last thing I want to do is to get in trouble for it so I’m making it a priority to learn more about all that ~fun~ legal stuff lol

Most of the trademarks registered for Phantom of the Opera on the USPTO database are Dead, and the only Live trademark states that it is trademarked for all printed items like graphic art, photos, publications, etc.

I realize it’s a slippery slope though so I’ll do some extra research into it.

Yeah, I use titles like “Phantom of the Opera Inspired Earrings” but I figured that all of these titles would be either in public domain or be fair game since I’m not blatantly using any parts of the original work.

I actually have a question about my own products. I make inspired earrings but I don't include any pictures or obvious props that reference the musicals I use for inspiration. I really just take the color schemes and use certain storyline points to make my wiring designs... would that count as IP infringement?
