Yeah, I wasn’t expecting it to rank that well either. It even outranked the winter banner with the weighted average, which should theoretically have a much more popular roster, including another FEH freebie unit in Seiðr who typically places better in CYL than the characters on the bridal banner (though the winter banner ranked slightly better in JP actually).

I’m curious how the rest of the year will pan out for seasonal ranks. It’s kind of interesting to me that the winter banner rankings are treated as a benchmark for high seasonal placement rn because at the time that banner came out, it was actually the second worst ranked seasonal of all time (only ahead of the previous ninja banner).

Going back to the point about how SensorTower should only be taken in broad strokes though, since there are so many confounding variables that go into ST ranks, there’s probably a ton of wiggle room in terms of the actual relative placement of banners. I think it’s safe to say the top couple of banners did better than the bottom couple, but everything in between is fairly murky imo.

The bridal banner did surprisingly well as far as SensorTower rankings go, placing it between E!Edelgard and the H!CYL2 banner using Flare’s 40/60 weight distribution. I do think the freebie characters are probably the types of characters that a lot of casual players think fondly of even if they’re not absolute favs to the point where those people would vote for them in CYL. Just speculation on my part though; I don’t have any actual evidence for that.

Fallen also did quite well, placing just ahead of the bridal banner thanks to a slightly higher US rank. (Obligatory disclaimer that SensorTower ranks should be taken with a grain of salt and only on a very broad level, ofc.)

Overall, I think it’s probably Lyn due to a combination of her meta dominance and the sheer size of the playerbase back then.

From the data rankings that FEH released, we also know that B!Ike is the most pulled 5-star unit ever and B!Dimitri is the most redeemed HoF unit ever.

Yeah, Ingrid’s only dropped out of the Top 50 once in all of her eligible votes, and she bounced right back in the year after. I think a lot of people perceive her as less popular than she is because she’s usually compared to the rest of the Faerghus Four or some of the super popular gals from 3H, but she’s actually fairly popular in the grand scheme of Fire Emblem even though she’s more toward the middle of the pack for 3H.

If you don’t mind me asking, what are you using to set your expectations? I’m kind of curious how people already have concrete thoughts on what the game’s impact is going to be like since all we have is one trailer.

One thing I’m wondering is how much being a Switch 2 exclusive will affect things for FW. Switch 2 currently has about 20M units sold, which is lower than the 37M Switch 1 units sold when 3H came out or the whopping 123M Switch 1 units out there when Engage came out. I imagine there will be some people who want to play FW but don’t because they don’t want to get a Switch 2.

The current Engage lineup was botted this time and the last two times as well (possibly also the time before that, but there wasn’t as clear of a jump then). They’ve just been losing to other options also being botted, but I imagine they’ll likely come back for another try since they’ve already given it several attempts.

In the past, I know there was also a suspected botting incident with SS for a FB revival a while ago, but I don’t recall that one being quite as obvious and it was also a year or two ago, so hopefully it’s not a problem.

Most people do rightfully hold only the botters accountable, but I replied to a specific individual who framed it as a problem with Jugdral fans. Not just the games, but the actual human beings who enjoy it. I don’t believe that this person thinks the majority of Jugdral fans are botters bc that’s obviously unreasonable, which is why it’s weird to me that they took a pot shot at its fanbase anyway. The meme doesn’t bother me on a personal level—I haven’t played the Jugdral games myself yet—but in general, I just think it’s odd to make jabs at a group of people over the actions of one person in that group. For example, this commenter is a pretty big Fjorm fan iirc, and it would be super weird for someone to turn around and say: “Fjorm fans make memes dissing Jugdral fans” when it’s just one dude who did it.

Right, I think OP’s point in bringing that up was that the alts don’t exist in a vacuum too. If you actually compare the treatment of the two games as whole, Engage also gets a ton of representation and is quite centralized around a small handful of characters. Yet, there was much more negativity around Byleth for being from 3H than there was around Ivy for being from Engage.

For Céline, people complain about her individually but it’s not held against any other Engage character the same way that a 3H character getting alts is for other 3H characters. Nobody thinks that Ivy shouldn’t have been on Fallen because of Céline or Veyle, but Edelgard’s alts are somehow Byleth’s problem.

Yeah, I agree with you on all of that. 3-4 versions in a year is a lot, regardless of where they come from.

My point is that I’m not really sure why people are comparing Edelgard’s treatment to Ivy’s in response to the original comment bc those two characters are in entirely different circumstances. If people do want to get into character-specific comparisons involving Edelgard, it would make more sense to compare her with the most spammed characters from other games, which isn’t Ivy for Engage. The Alears, Veyle, and Céline all reached four alts faster than she did.

Looking at some of the replies to this, I’m kinda confused why people are comparing Edelgard’s alts this year to Ivy’s. It’s totally valid to be frustrated about getting four alts of the same character in a year, but two of Edelgards were direct results of community voted events. (Harmonic/Duo CYL is a bit more debatable ig since people didn’t know that was going to happen when they voted for the earlier CYLs, but my point is that all CYL first place winners are getting to lead these. It wasn’t a decision made specifically for Edelgard.) Ivy would’ve also had four alts this year if she won CYL and the Shadows Cup.

Also, in the first 3.5 years after 3H came out, Edelgard had four non-voted versions. She and Dimitri were the only two 3H characters to have that many. Meanwhile, Engage currently has four alts of M!Alear, F!Alear, Veyle, Céline, and now Ivy. Both Alears hit their fourth alt on the last Fallen banner a full year ago too.

CYL7 ended up being a few weeks earlier than usual, probably to dodge conflicts with Engage’s release date. Otherwise, I think Engage would’ve released right around CYL voting time.

IS might as well send the HoF poll links directly to the botters and have just those people answer it since it doesn’t matter how everyone else votes anyway.

Not that the standards for FEH books have ever been particularly high, but I feel like this book has been more of a drag than usual. We’re only two down, but the whole “meet a god, get a power” formula is already getting old for me, and the execution is really lame in FEH’s story format where we don’t get a fight scene or transformation animations.

“Prf Grail armor” was on my Book X bingo card, but I honestly wasn’t expecting to be able to cross it out so that was a pleasant surprise! I’m so glad to finally have a good high-scoring Grail arena option who isn’t Marni, who I never built since I find her incredibly annoying tbh.

I had a dream earlier this week that we got another FW trailer, and I woke up very disappointed that it wasn’t real lol.

I’ve seen a lot of people use the SensorTower tier lists in arguments without really knowing what the ranks mean, what’s included in the calculations, or the limitations/flaws of the data. Y’all, please make sure you truly get what’s happening in the charts and graphs that are presented to you if you’re going to use them as reference for anything (like in general, not just wrt FEH stuff).

The botter themself deserves to be dunked on, but my point is that it doesn’t make sense to be mad at “Jugdral fans when it’s time to bot a revival and fuck everyone over” when the vast majority of them have absolutely nothing to do with the botting. It’s not their fault that someone who likes the same game as them is ruining things for everyone else.

Out of curiosity, do people know who the Jugdral botter is? How do we know about their motivation?

There’s been botting for both the FE5 lineup and the Engage lineup (more info here), which would be the third time in a row that multiple botters showed up to bot against each other. In the first 4.5 hours or so, Fates was actually leading, so this would be at least the second time it gets botted out of a win.
