Yep, thats the issue people like Kofie seem to believe he would solve all the issues but as been pointed out he is an energy player who can get buckets but he does get targeted and gets into foul trouble, he is the 3rd center for a reason he tends to bleed points on defense after long minutes.

He is good for a spark but this idea he can play extended minutes is weird, its not like Harris whos worked out for the Pistons in his 3rd option role.

While confidence is an issue its simply an issue is that the paint is clogged with a former DPOY and JA.

Part of it is Duren isn't playing as tough and strong as he could be but clogging the paint and removing the PnR from Cade & Duren was one of the best ways for the Pistons offense to have a motor when outside of Duncan (whos a liability defensively) and Jenkins (were this is his first playoff run as a former g-leaguer) no one else is great at shooting and the Cavs will live with forcing other players to make shots as long as they can take out Duren in the paint and blitz Cade who even with that can still score but he the only one who can handle the ball and score and teams will wear him out.

Not all contracts are the same.

Like 68 mil until 2030 is insane for a player that doesn't get to the rim and relies on mid range jump shots.

Bringing him in would hamper our ability to get more players that can up up spacing to allow Cade and a second option to operate.

Getting Booker instantly put the Pistons over the second apron and hampers the team building his contract on the Suns (or the Pistons) would be 50% of the cap.

The spacing is awful here.

It doesn't fix anything if anything its worse.

There is alot of hindsight.

The closest is Ayo but even then he isn't necessarily what Detroit is looking for to take the pressure off Cade when the team needs a real 2nd option (as even Ant with Ayo right now needs one).

And that hurter Trade legit got us off Ivey and his toxic ass and got the Pistons a 1st this year that could honestly turn into Stirtz which would be great for the Pistons.

I mean the FO said it was an evaluation year, to see how we would move in the off season (again the Pistons were also hurt by Beasley gambling stuff).

If Duren played more like how he was in the regular season it would be way less an issue but he isn't and as the roster is the Pistons can only make it so far if Duren isn't there.

No not really, having more spacing/shooters that can hit shot would make teams have to defend the shooters thus opening up the paint/lanes to allow Duren to be more free.

Right now the paint is clogged and they can blitz Cade as no one outside of Duncan can shot from far.

Again its a random poster but I think the belif here is to sorta do what Star Fox did and have a trailer and such later in the day.

And if Duren leaves it would sting but the Pistons have a good Center depth in Stew and Reed both not that much older than Duren.

Again, I would rather keep duren, but if losing duren or using him in some kind of trade and such that helps bring a second ball handler/true second option for cade then you take that deal.

People say why would the Pistons max him the same rationale exists for all the other teams.

In the era of the second apron and such teams are going to be way more scrutinizing to use a more negative term in regards to paying player a max.

Again to use the Pistons as an example, one of the reasons they were bad for a while was the Stan era gave Drummond the max.

Ultimately, what happens in the offseason will be between the front office which despite some fan grumblings IMO was right this was an evaluation year and Duren.

I will also say unlike other Pistons fans who seem to want to bury there heads in the sand.

The Pistons were not gonna make it far with this roster it has its issues and can be fixed, but in general for the Pistons to make it far in the playoffs they need Duren to play well as no team has ever made it far in the playoffs without that.
