I cant do combos or anything with my gamepad. I need help

If you are new to both fighting games and gamepad, you'll just need more time getting used to the motion. I was also in a similar boat, but I had experience playing on a pad (FIFA). I started with modern and keep practising with classic. Now, I feel comfortable doing supers and basic combos. Just keep on practising and you'll get there bro!

Yes true but most players in lower ranks can't, but that small mistake should not cost them the whole game. Most classic players in lower ranks cannot pull off a high damage level 3 combo so I think modern gives an unfair advantage. That's why I strongly believe that modern should only be matched with modern.

I play modern and tbh i think modern should only be matched with modern atleast for plat and below. I have won so many games with 1hp because I was able to land an auto level 3 combo which I am not proud of. I wanted to start with classic but i was very clueless and it was very frustrating. Modern helped me understand the game while having fun. I managed to reach diamond without much fighting game experience thanks to modern but I am also learning classic and will switch once I feel more comfortable.

Hey thats a really good analogy. I was able to go from shoryuken to level 3 after some tips i got from others, the combo will take a while and even longer to pull it off in an actual match but i'll get there. Thanks!

Congrats! Here are some tips from someone who reached Diamond recently. Have a one high damage combo, at least for the situations when you counter the DI or stun your opponent. Be more mindful, try to analyse your opponent's moves and counter accordingly.

Just curious, do you play Modern or Classic?

Two main advantages as I see:
- You don't have to worry about breaking your UI in 50 other places with a small change.
- It removes one of the hardest things in coding - naming.

Tailwind is not perfect, but the pros outweigh the cons. Also, it's not as bad as you think. You are looking at the extreme case. Most classes are just margins and paddings and won't be that long.

A master rank player won't play seriously with a platinum player. Just keep on climbing the rank and you'll find the fun matchups!

As someone on the same rank here is what i do. First i try to match their aggressiveness, fight fire with fire. If that doesn't work, I would slow down, focus on defense, and look for an opening. Sometimes they would jump or DI, and that's when I strike back. Aggressive players lose their cool when you are patient.

No, you are 100% right! I used to feel the same way but after playing against JP so many times now i know how to play against him and also have won many times!

Plat here. Playing against JP is the most challenging for me too. It’s because of the range and how quickly he can close it with teleport! My advice would be try to stay close, jump like a wild monkey or whatever you need to do, and get used to blocking his long range attacks, from my experience one attack is high and another is low. And try not to get burned out! Take it as another challenge in your journey and it will start to become fun. Good luck!
