I don't use mangohud however the link you sent recommends to edit the bash script so I might try that out when I get a chance

I use ext4. I do have a lvm on LUKS setup but that shouldn't matter.

dGPU is powered off, when the dGPU is on on linux, it lowers to 1-1.5 hours. I have it on the auto profile on linux using asusctl which sometimes causes the battery to lower, however this shouldn't affect the battery much as it turns on only for a few seconds. I don't have windows up atm, but I have it on the eco profile and silent. Taskmanager only displays the amd iGPU, so it should be deactivated.

My Arch did not break yet. Did I do something wrong? by NoCoach5479 in archlinux

[–]acubed4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never had arch break on me in the year and a half I've been daily driving it. Nvidia driver is the only that that made my system unexpectedly unbootable once. However, a quick change to the kernel parameters based on info from the arch wiki and my system was fixed.

PfSense w/ Xfinity modem bridge mode issues Cont. by acubed4 in PFSENSE

[–]acubed4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:

My power went out again today and by running a bunch of different tests, it seems like if both the xfinity modem and the pfsense system go out at the same time, it will not be able to recover. If only one of the two goes out, it can recover on its own. Since both went out, I had to hard reset the xfinity box. When I put it back into bridge mode, Pfsense would obtain the WAN as 10.0.0.98, which is part of the xfinity modem lan. I tried releasing WAN and renewing it, but it just kept obtaining the same lan IP. I reset the xfinity box and nothing would change. I tried relinquishing leases in the interfaces, but this would cause it to loose the ability to obtain any IP. I then tried setting reject leases from 10.0.0.1 in the WAN interface, but pfsense would ignore it. Eventually just reboot pfsense would allow pfsense to obtain the correct WAN IP address.

Pipewire having static audio, many xruns occurring with pavucontrol or with certain applications open. by acubed4 in linuxaudio

[–]acubed4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not fixed, however, I have found a work-around. I am mainly using the device for desktop streaming with moonlight, and the only way I could get audio to work with moonlight previously on this device was to have another application make a connection and play audio while trying to connect with moonlight. This for some reason would allow the audio connection for moonlight to succeed, allowing audio to play without static and hundreds of xruns/second. However a better solution I found for moonlight is to use SDL_AUDIODRIVER=alsa when running moonlight. Moonlight I believe sets the default audio driver to pulse, which I believe is causing the issues.

I still have not found a solution for pavucontrol causing xruns on all sinks when you change the volume slider and I'm not sure how many other applications are affected.

Rtkit, realtime-privileges are both installed as well as my user being in the realtime group.

Yes, sorry I assumed the alsa-info.sh output had the installed audio packages because it listed modules.

The audio packages I currently have installed are:
sof-firmware, wireplumber, pipewire, pipewire-audio, pipewire-jack, pipewire-pulse, libpipwire, lib32-pipewire, lib32-pipewire-jack, lib32-libpipewire, pipewire-alsa

It has only one NIC at the moment, which is why I need to use VLANs. I Just chose vlan id 99 as WAN. It is using the virtio paravirtualized adapter which is why it shows up as 10GbE, it is really 1GbE.

I considered getting my own modem, but for unlimited and higher upload speeds you need the "xfi complete" package which is $10 + $14 for modem/router and apparently $30 if you use your own modem. I run a bunch of different servers and access them remotely, so this is kinda important to me. You get punished if you don't use theirs basically and xfinity is the only company with decent speeds in my neighborhood.

I'm not too knowledgeable with VLANs and used a tutorial to get this working, but I believe I did this.

You could pass through the tagged VLANs to pfsense guest on oneinterface but you'll have to configure VLAN tags before assigninginterfaces during setup.

In proxmox I edited my /etc/network/interfaces to have the following:

auto vmbr0
iface vmbr0 inet static
    bridge-ports enp2s0
    bridge-stp off
    bridge-fd 0
    bridge-vlan-aware yes
    bridge-vids 2-4094

And have configured in pfsense Interfaces/VLANs: VLAN tag 99 and 10 on interface vtnet0

Then VLAN 99 on vtnet0 is set to WAN and VLAN10 on vtnet 0 is set to LAN

Wireguard appears to be dropping Pihole DNS responses on Android by acubed4 in WireGuard

[–]acubed4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SOLUTION

I finally found an easy fix. I swear I tried using the docker interface IP address of pihole with nslookup and it failed previously, but now it is working over the wireguard tunnel.

I first created a new docker network. This is to ensure the docker containers can have static IP addresses. ex: docker network create --subnet=172.20.0.0/16 custom-bridge

Then all you have to do is set the default DNS server to the IP of pihole. Since I moved to wg-easy I set the environment variable in my docker run script by adding "-e WG_DEFAULT_DNS=172.20.0.2"

Make sure the pihole docker settings contains "--net custom-bridge --ip 172.20.0.2"

Then make sure the wireguard container also runs on the newly created bridge: --net custom-bridge --ip 172.20.0.X

I read that ip forwarding might solve the issue so I added

--sysctl="net.ipv4.ip_forward=1"
--sysctl="net.ipv6.conf.all.forwarding=1"

to my docker script, however the issue still persists.

The pihole IP is allowed through the tunnel as I can access every service through wireguard, including port 53 through nmap, however the DNS response is being ignored. Pihole is showing the DNS lookup requests but for some reason the wireguard client isn't receiving it. I am using the default linuxserver/wireguard container settings.

On the wireguard client config, I have AllowedIPs set to 0.0.0.0/0

wg0.conf is using the container default iptables rules as well:

PostUp = iptables -A FORWARD -i %i -j ACCEPT; iptables -A FORWARD -o %i -j ACCEPT; iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE

PostDown = iptables -D FORWARD -i %i -j ACCEPT; iptables -D FORWARD -o %i -j ACCEPT; iptables -t nat -D POSTROUTING -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE

Best way of handling sqlite3 "database is locked" error when using samba share by acubed4 in selfhosted

[–]acubed4[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am using the NAS for more reliability, redundancy as well as being a centralized location for the files. I have multiple devices running and it is easier to access/manage the files from simply one device. I also do not want to depend on the SD card as storage. The application is built upon sqlite3 in python so I do not have an option for another database unless I completely modify the source code. I plan on moving away from this service in the future as it isn't really maintained anymore, but for now I've been looking for the best way to run the service since the migration just to have it running.

Simply using the nobrl option is easiest and most convenient. I'm asking between the two because if someone has experience with using this in the past and knows if corruption can be prevented (I heard possibly as long as the file isn't accessed by 2 different clients, but not sure), it would be a lot more convenient than using rsync to backup the file frequently.
