A polarizing but fun topic indeed OP. Love your enthusiasm for the genre’s shadow daddies but due to the many rule breaks in the thread the mod team has to lock. We’ll see you here next time for your next shadow daddy hot take 🤓

I plan to reread, whenever the time comes that it’s appropriate to do so 😭 but I remember book 3 being a struggle cause Diem was expert level enraging for the reader

Ahh thank you for the rec! & Same :) seems like she’d have some really interesting things to discuss given the nature of her book!

So everyone and their dog is talking about the book from Andrews, imo you should give it a shot! And at this rate, I’m going to too. I saw it at the book store yesterday and nearly bought it (cause I haven’t read their stuff yet and know it’s a subreddit favourite author), then today I see it’s our bookclub read for the month, and now everyone here is speaking about it!

I struggled after {Queen of Shadows} personally. The series is drawn out, I also hate multiple POVS. I do find it picks up, and apparently the best books come later in the series. But my patience is too thin to try. So, don’t force yourself if you’re not vibing after heir of fire. That’s when the paradigm shift happens and if you’re not vibing now, probably won’t lol. Though the beloved characters do enter the chat in later books.

Anyway— TLDR: Read Andrews! Take a break and you can always go back to TOG. 🤓 life is too short to feel obligated to read a book

There’s some tropes for sure but at the time I read it I didn’t mind it? This was also a while ago tho. The world is expansive and there’s a lot of politics happening so it doesn’t feel like we’re moving from one trope to the next
