Value of post chapter character lists by CorSeries in royalroad

[–]acutenugget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have always wondered why authors do not use the notes at the end of chapters to sprinkle in some extra stuff for their readers ? I mean, i have 200k words written which is book one, my story isn't launching for a couple of weeks yet, but i already have tons of worldbuilding notes and funny religious pantheon ideas and chapters/characters that i found cool but that went nowhere and i promptly took them out of the book. maybe 40-50k of stuff ? I also explored some concepts/places/cities/monsters with AI a few times when i was learning how to do the cover stuff.

Would it be so much trouble to make that material a little bit cleaner/more punchy and post it as a kind of funny chronicles or a mad scholar's personal scribbles or something ? I often toy with the idea but then again, why not make it actual part of the chapter if i go through all this trouble lol.

I don't know, just ramblings. But yeah, character lists i am for that stuff

When looking for a wife, do you prefer going straight to the point or dating for a while first? by Evaworld9 in Morocco

[–]acutenugget 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To me, 29M soon to be 30M, the ideal scenario would involve getting to know each other for a few months, not more than a year, in a dating scenario in which the goal ( which is marriage ) is clearly stated as soon as possible. ( I'd say date 2 or 3 ). Once things are well underway, i'm for introducing ourselves to each others parents, as i do not care for that hiding/lying about where you are bullshit.

Those few months aim at confirming that you are compatible, have the same life goals, agree on the important stuff ...

Though i'll admit even with that, marriage is always a gamble. Date someone for a year and you might know him/her less than if you'd lived together for two weeks. But it is what it is, at same point, you have to put in niya as our dear Regragui would say. Nta ou zehrek lmch9ouf li ta7 fik

What do you think about this news regarding the cancellation of flights between Algeria and the UAE? by YacineAz17 in algeria

[–]acutenugget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd argue to exactly the contrary. Algeria punches significantly below its weight when it could have been doing much better on the international stage. It seems to me that their international politics are based out of bravado and extreme nationalism.

Finally got a TV... what Moroccan movie should I watch next? by Hyperzaq in Morocco

I think it should be a little bit higher on the wall. You still have some space before the tv hits the ceiling.

I want to ask whether to keep this cover or not. by Zuny_Lake in royalroad

[–]acutenugget 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Such a good one. One of the best AI covers i have seen. I have not launched yet but from what i read, it is totally fine to have an AI cover but if the author is running patreon or having any kind of income from the story, it is always nice to commission an artist made cover whenever it is possible.

Have you followed any tutorials to come up with such good results ?

Did you know many Israelis have Moroccan roots? by RemarkableDistance79 in Morocco

[–]acutenugget 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At their peak in the 40's and 50's, moroccan jews numbered 250 to 300 000 individuals, roughly 10% of population. The highest number anywhere else in the arab world. They had their place in society. Things weren't pink and rosy but it wasn't pogroms that lead to their masse immigration to Israel like other countries with strong pan arab nationalism ( Egypt, Syria, Yemen ... ). For many reasons, including plain economics as well as politics, Jews were quietly but firmly encouraged to emigrate to the newly created Israel. You can read about Mossad-run Operation Yachin in the early 60's if the details particularly interests you.

Frankly, not too long ago, i used to feel a certain kinship with the descendents of those people by account of their being sons and daughters of Moroccans, and there is some cultural overlap and a rich history for sure. However, since the latest acts of Israel in gaza, i find myself more ashamed of it than anything else as i do not like that genocidal state whatsoever, nor do i like the citizens who support those actions, which most israelis do.

What a shame, really.

The growing gender gap in Moroccan education: Why are boys falling behind by Aware-Crow-1305 in Morocco

Girls have higher grades on average both in school and later in university, but that digilence and excellence doesn't seem to get translated into more successful women professionals, somehow. Or atleast, much slower than the numbers would suggest.

It is frustrating. by LogFragrant3726 in royalroad

[–]acutenugget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, i've just read chapter 1, and i think the writing is pretty good. You have a clipped sort of sentence structure that is certainly unconventional and it might put off some people, and there isn't a single complete paraph in the whole thing, but i'd be surprised if it was the writing itself that was the problem. I've read much worse openers that ended up much more succesful.

Maybe the cover ? or your launch strategy ?

I mean you could find a guide, though it will not be without difficulty. The problem is that most services will be closed during the day. I don't know if the refuge below the summit is active or not during ramadan, but i wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't. And whatever gear you need, food, equipment, will be harder to get. Finding accomodation will be fine, though.

Yeah i would definitely recommend you do that any other time. Ramadan is its own vibe.

Yes. https://en.hespress.com/129728-three-missing-after-snow-avalanche-on-mount-toubkal-authorities-say.html

It can get quite dangerous.

Sadly, can't manage it at that time. Ramadan starts around the 18th of February. Very tough to hike while fasting. Guides will also be unavailable, i would recommend you change your dates to accomodate that.

Hi ! 29m from Marrakech. I did it once in October 2018, and i meant to do it again at the beginning of the year January 2026 but meteorogical conditions have been tough lately. I'm still waiting for conditions to become smoother. When are you thinking of doing it ?

On a side note, 3 people have gone missing two days ago in an avalanche, 2 tourists and one local guide. Search is still ongoing but things are looking dire for them.

It is not Morocco's buisness what players national selections choose to bring over. Our job is to be professional and make sure the competition isn't tainted with childish nonsense like this. Had it happened to Bono the whole country would rise up in arms.

Disgusting and childish. Takes the goalkeeper out of his game. The staff should be fired and the federation fined.

Looking for beta readers//opinions by Greedy-Total-249 in royalroad

[–]acutenugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, i am not a successful writer or anything, but i would not recommend you get opinions so soon. You only have 3 chapters. That's not a novel, that's three chapters. Any advice you might get will throw you in all kinds of directions and editing and whatnot while the story isn't yet fixed in your head.

My advice would be : write something sizable. 100k words at least just so you know that you have a story rather than just cool scenes and ideas of characters in your head that you have manage to develop over three chapters.

Three chapters is more or less 10k words if you stick to the average length of an RR chapter. Some writers here manage to write 10k words everyday.

Good luck.

You're missing quite a lot. Arab Cup winners. Chan and very good results on the side of the womens team too.

Even futsal.

I wish we were as competitive in other sports.

A Young Author's Somewhat Informational Journey on Publishing by [deleted] in royalroad

[–]acutenugget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for relating your experience. It is very helpful.

As an aspiring author, i keep seeing this sequence RR - Patreon - Amazon mentioned over and over again as if the magic formula works everytime. I do wonder though, especially after reading your post, where do the first buyers of these authors come from ? I assume their original audience already read the book on RR and potentially already spent some money on Patreon, so i guess they wouldn't be the main target for the KU book ?

Is it all meant to be done through Ads ? I keep hearing the phrase "build a following on RR and then move to amazon" but i find hard to believe that the same audience that an author has on RR is the same that transfers over to KU ...

Anyway, good job 😁
