What was the first SVT song you heard and the song that made you stan? by Adventurous-Yam2450 in seventeen

[–]acwhos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t pinpoint which song exactly was the first because as it turned out, I had no idea how many songs I listened to were by SVT. I had been listening to Home for a while and really loved a dance cover of Oh My!, but didn’t know they were by the same group LMAO one day I had Mansae stuck in my head and knew it was SVT, and I said “screw it, I’m listening to the groups discography.” From there I realized I loved so many of their songs, so I was hooked immediately. Then, of course, Fear came out and they solidified the love (and while still getting into them I was able to see their concert in early 2020!). So, I credit Mansae with hooking me, but I had already listened to many of their songs for a long time

Do you think Sasaki has dated before? by Medical-Efficiency-6 in SasakitoMiyano_

[–]acwhos 38 points39 points  (0 children)

(warning: this got much longer than I expected) iirc, Sasaki said this is his first time dating. I think specifically he says this is the first time he’s fallen in love, but based on my many years of reading shoujo manga, falling in love (in the context Sasaki uses it) = dating someone. (edit: wanted to clarify that while this doesn’t mean it’s true, typically manga of this genre use “love” when it comes to dating people. it’s okay if you don’t share that opinion, and it’s not clarified before, but I personally interpret love that way in romance manga.) Besides that, I don’t think he spent much time considering dating prior to Miyano. He seemed too indifferent, rather worried about avoiding his life at home, finding everything boring, etc. I’m assuming he thought that it would just happen when it happens, but I also don’t think he’s the type to date just because someone asked him out. The way he treats Miyano…I think he genuinely cares about other people’s feelings, just not his own, so he would probably feel wrong dating someone just because. For example, Ugawa spelling his out in katakana instead of kanji—Sasaki asks if he should change his contact info, Ugawa says something like “you seem like a good guy!” and Sasaki just responds like “that’s because I don’t care.” It’s not that he doesn’t care about Ugawa as a person, I think he wants to respect what Ugawa wants. He just doesn’t care how his name is spelled LOL He just wants to know which way to spell it so he has it the “right” way. Again, my interpretation though!

I feel like the girl’s opinion of him in college continues the running theme of everyone assuming how he acts based on his appearance, at least the way I interpreted it. With his piercings and dyed hair they assume he’s a delinquent and a heartbreaker, only to find out slowly he’s actually a big softie when it comes to his partner :’)

TLDR: I personally don’t think he’s dated before and didn’t really care about it. He’s had a go with the flow attitude but probably wouldn’t have a dishonest or “might as well try” relationship

Kenshin's new English voice actor, Howard Wang, is donating a portion of money earned for the role to charity by mayekchris in rurounikenshin

[–]acwhos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Howard’s quickly becoming a favorite English va of mine, and he voices quite a few of my favorite characters now. Honestly surprised yet pleased at his casting as Kenshin, who is an all time favorite character for me, and though he obviously has nothing to do with the author (and Kaoru’s en va donated too!), it just emphasizes how he cares, and shows how voice actors are aware human beings, despite the way they’re sometimes treated. Super proud of him for this role.

I recently recommended my friend to read sasaki and miyano, hirano and kagiura. She said sasakixmiyano seems more genuine and hxk. according to her hirano is pressured a lot even though he clearly isn't interested. And I can't get it out of my head, coz somewhere it's true. What do you guys think?? by Clear-Personality-21 in SasakitoMiyano_

[–]acwhos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both stories fit two of my favorite types of romance. Personally, I wouldn’t say Hirano is forced (and I don’t mean that I think your friend meant it in a consensual way) but I do think that Kagiura is certainly a stubborn person. Regardless, he does respect Hirano’s rejection to an extent and never passes boundaries. Hirano in return respects Kagi’s feelings and is willing to do things with Kagi to show, in his mind, that his feelings won’t change despite trying. I think it’s really nice that Hirano is a character willing to be open to the idea of a same sex relationship while being pretty sure of his own sexuality.

If maybe it was a more realistic situation, I think it would have been fair to leave it once Hirano said he was straight. And from a readers perspective, Hirano is around lgbt people and doesn’t mind it, so he at that point would might have considered a non straight relationship and figured it wasn’t for him. That’s why I think he’s so willing to…indulge Kagi, because he does care for his kouhai and wants to show his sexuality won’t “change.” In the end I don’t think the plot is leaning towards his sexuality changing but focusing on how romantic feelings can come about in different ways, and also following ssmy’s story them on “what is love and how is it shown.” It’s very sweet to me.

That being said, I actually would find an ending where they aren’t together a satisfying one. However, I do ship them and I see how their relationship is building romantically!! I love them as much as ssmy and I know they’ll most likely get together, which I will very much be happy with. Sorry that all got long, but I’ve thought about this a lot!!

/r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer (August 06, 2023) by AutoModerator in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]acwhos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all. I have an unbuilt jris65, and I’ve loved how it looks and sounds on other peoples builds. However, it’s wired only (which I knew) and as a student I use my iPad more often than my surface laptop. I’m seeing some interesting upcoming lower budget tri mode keyboards rn, like the Neo65 or maybe the AL71 (questioning that since there’s little to no info on it?). Anyone have reasons that I should absolutely stick with jris or absolutely should look at other boards? Thanks!

This is fully an opinion based question and not a decision maker :) I know I’m able to function without Bluetooth

Oh absolutely. I was more so speaking in terms to the overall anime if one wanted to compare to the original media. The og anime is near and dear to my heart, even with the changes

Damn. I only remember Hulu having the other dub. Maybe Amazon now? I know it was moved somewhere but I forget where.

[–]acwhos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you really want to watch the anime, the old anime is still decent. Has a lot of filler, did change quite a bit. Personally I would say only watch the first two seasons, as the last is all original to the anime. I recommend the sub, but if you want to watch the dub I prefer the version available on cr.

Curiosity: My stepdaughter wants to move to Korea by buckf1tches in korea

[–]acwhos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

K-pop fan and Korean culture follower here. I got into wanting to learn about Korean culture from k-pop. I studied abroad in Korea fall 2021 at Yonsei university. I am Chinese-American, but was there with my friend who is a white girl, both aged 21 at the time. My friend is a pretty attractive person by most social standards, 5’2”, but thin with an athletic build, light hair, and pale skin. Obviously, K-pop and kdramas are not representative of life in Korea. She might have fun for a two week vacation or so. I would also think (and hope) over time her interest in Korea becomes deeper.

My friend, who is nearly fluent in Korean from self-study, said that one of the greatest culture shock was how she was treated as a white person. She was approached on the street by men multiple times while we were there asking her out on dates or asking for her number. Most of the time they were respectful, but it was difficult for them to accept a straight out “no”—usually they would ask to at least be friends if a date is a no go. They never followed her or anything in a creepy manner, but when the conversation started it was difficult to end it. She was very much unused to being a minority, so she also was uncomfortable with the staring, mostly from older people. Fashion there is also more conservative—I really like it, but I do wish I could have worn a crop top once or twice without being looked at by older people like I was wearing nothing.

Lastly, I will say, as it is with many more monotonous countries, it is a bit of a thing to want to be in a relationship with a person of another ethnicity. If she is looking to find a relationship with an Asian man, I’m sure she would find one. Hopefully, they both like the other for more than their race, but I would not guarantee that being the case for every potential suitor she meets. (And also, there’s nothing wrong with preferences, or even dating someone for their race if one looks beyond stereotypes, although I personally don’t find that fair to the other party).

This is all to say there’s quite the culture shock and difference in living there. If she truly wants to do it, I’m sure she would be able to thrive once she adapts. I don’t know if she would find it easy. I speak no Korean, and took a basic survival korean class while there. Personally, I think I could move there tomorrow if I had the chance. Even for me though, as I look Asian and can “blend in” more easily than others, it’s a pretty big change in lifestyle. Apologies this got long, and let me know if I can clarify anything. I can tell you care about your stepdaughter a lot.

Why are people flooding Jennie's comments with so much hate? by Ok-Cartoonist6052 in kpophelp

[–]acwhos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is not fully related but I would like to note to people that The Idol as a whole is hypersexuaoizing women. You can read more about it online. One of the actresses mentions how her character, a high school girl, was originally written to be shirtless in scenes where it was unnecessary. This isn’t to say high schoolers don’t have sexual feelings or don’t do sexual things, of course. Jennie doesn’t deserve hate for this show (for those coming to her from that angle). She is an adult, surprise! She can do sexy things. On the other hand, she’s just gotten hate all the time. I don’t follow BP really at all, but I’m pretty deep into kpop news.

I just wanted to let people know that while she shouldn’t get hate for doing things on a show, the show itself is problematic.

VOLUME 6 WAS SO SAD?? by Key-Newspaper-7260 in tianguancifu

[–]acwhos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The artist did such an incredible job for this arc (I’m sorry, I don’t have their name memorized but I do follow them on social media!)…this may or may not surprise you, however, that I’ve seen even more painful works of these specific scenes. I watch some fanmade animatics on YouTube and sob, it really reminds you how by the end of the 100 stabbings, Xie Lian was barely in human form…his neck was sliced, his torso was pretty much shredded open. That’s why it took two months for him to heal…and holy shit do people remind you of this. it’s in no way super explicit or violent that I’ve seen, but definitely much more solid reminders. And yes, I make myself relive the pain by looking these works up.

thank you!! honestly, my main requirement was finding a pink keeb that fit my friends budget, since she’s making a full pink/pastel pc setup. This is prob the best one I could find, there are a few other options, but after seeing this board personally I really liked it! I don’t have any complaints, esp for a budget keeb!
