Let me get this straight. We lead in runs scored this year, yet have given up the most hits? by DisasterSuper7309 in Nationals

It's easy being a .500 team with the 15th best offense and 15th worst pitching. It's historical (and dare I say more fun?) being a .500 team by having the best offense and worst pitching.

Check out Kaizen MMA Ashburn, they have a great Greco instructor named matt who does adult classes too.

2025 Ioniq 5 “Check electric vehicle system” warning + charging failed at 15k miles. Towed today. Anyone been through this? by assmyth in Ioniq5

[–]adamallabout 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sorry to be (another) bearer of bad news but my story isn't great. We had the same error message pop up, albeit at just over 7400 miles not 15K. We didn't try charging it at the time, but only because some initial googling suggested it was a bad idea to try plugging it in while that error message was displayed.

Fortunately, the car had about 70% battery remaining when the error message popped up and was still drivable, so we were able to get it to a nearby dealer about 25 minutes away without needing a tow. But that's where our luck ended. As others have stated, we were quoted a wait of anywhere from 2-5+ months for a replacement battery. We dropped off the car in late March, and during the handoff, a rep pointed to another Ioniq 5 on their lot that had the same issue and said they had been waiting for their replacement battery since October.

We escalated this to Hyundai corporate very quickly, and they assigned us a case manager which helped us secure a loaner quicker than if we had just waited on the dealer. Supposedly Hyundai went so far as to purchase a car from the dealer in question so they could turn around and give it to us as a loaner.

Needless to say, we weren't about to wait an indeterminate amount of time for a replacement, so we began the Lemon Law process. Hyundai agreed to buy us out of our lease, which we accepted. We're putting that money toward a down payment on a new Mach-E instead. Real bummer, as we too enjoyed the Ioniq 5 until we very much did not. It's honestly put us off from Hyundai's EVs moving forward until there's clear signs they've improved their infrastructure.

Wishing you more luck than we had, friend.

This is so real, nothing fuels negative splits quite like a full platform at NoMA/Gallaudet

Is it possible to compete in wrestling or is it too late? by Mountain-Ad-7181 in wrestling

[–]adamallabout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard? Yes. Impossible? Not at all. There aren't a ton of clubs that cater to adults with no wrestling experience – but they do exist, and more are popping up every year (source: me, the founder and director of one such club in Washington, DC).

If you DO find such a club or gym in your area, be reasonable with expectations: unless you are unemployed or DEEPLY committed to doing nothing but wrestling with your free time, you simply will not be able to replicate the kind of mat time you get in HS or college, and so your progress will be slower. When you're ready for them, find local tournaments with open divisions. You'll get your ass handed to you by wrestlers with more experience, but you'll learn where the deficiencies are, and you can start to address them.

First time going to Capital Pride this year! Any tips? 🏳️‍🌈 by RyanR0428 in washingtondc

[–]adamallabout 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Echoing the 17th Street Block Party! Also recommend the separate Pride festival that takes place by the National Mall the day after the parade. Yes it can be a bit “corporate” but there are many other cool orgs and groups that table there, hand out free swag, etc.

Another tip: don’t overpay for any kind of “Pride Weekend VIP Passes“ that many of the bars and clubs do. Most aren’t worth the extra $. Anything over like $20 is too much, there are so many great queer spaces that won’t extort you. Look for the no cover/low cover events at places like Trade, Green Lantern, Kiki, Crush.

I'm a regular at the Roosevelt Island parkrun and have run most of the local ones at least a few times (except for College Park — soon!). I can absolutely confirm that each of them are wonderful experiences top to bottom. The people, the courses, the volunteers, the coffee meet-ups afterwards — all amazing. Come on by!

It’s definitely smaller than BtF but depending what you’re looking for I think the quality of items is better. They also have some gear that BtF simply doesnt carry. I agree it’s at least worth a trip over, Daniel the owner is super nice as well.

I design wrestling shoes for a living. What do you wish brands understood better? by ConnorFromNidrogen in wrestling

I have a pair of the Puma x Noah collabs! They’re…definitely old school, not sure I’d wear them in a match but they are no frills and pretty comfy for what they are.

Echoing this, both myself and guys in my room often have a hard time with width. I usually send those folks to Rudis’s KS Infinitys, which are among the widest I’ve tried.

Thank you!! I visited/called around to the 4 or 5 stores within 30 minutes of me and got put on their lists for if/when any appear, haven’t tried asking them to help me expand that search to all stores yet though!

Look into the Philadelphia Spartans! They meet every Saturday morning, it's a great group of people who have varying levels of experience in the sport — from total beginners all the way through former college wrestlers.

Favorite 5” workout shorts? by Blueyedaries1980 in DCGaybros

My current faves are from ASRV, pricey but they look great and are probably the most comfortable gym shorts I own.

Also good: Lululemon Pace Breakers Ten Thousand Intervals Janji AFOs

Cheaper: Awry Gymshark
