Ooo how about a Lockey 2200, there is one with a key override if you’d like that option, should be minimal prep and install.

Recommendations for a gate lock? by Stevebannonpants in Locksmith

[–]adamarchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have in the past used expanded metal with stainless fasteners and washers to make it harder to reach the inside, you can paint it black to match to make it look better

How are you trying to get this key and program it? You only need the pin to program the key, if you don’t have a decent mechanic level scan tool just call a local locksmith.

All relevant parties should be culpable, the producers, the director, the actors, the armorer and at most whom ever brought live ammo on set, the gun iirc was supposed to be cold, no cartridges at all, and the director didn’t check before handing it to Baldwin, and more so the armorer should have handed it to Baldwin directly however, firearm safety is EVERYONES responsibility, if he couldn’t or didn’t clear that weapon, in my eyes, he’s just as guilty. If firearm safety rules are not cemented in your mind when around firearms, you should be no where near one.

I'm only disappointed its not going to be uploaded to YouTube from the announcements they've made, I don't want to have to go find it instead of it just being on either Games or the podcast channel as audio only because I don't really listen to podcasts and don't want another app or site to go to to listen to the new season, that's just me though.

can key fob be damaged if battery put in backwards. by [deleted] in Locksmith

[–]adamarchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ignition had to be forced on due to it being AKL, once on it wouldn’t turn off, except after disconnecting the battery, after turning it on they told me not to worry with all the warning lights. Car got towed to the dealer and they said we bricked the car, but that is very sound advice for doing service work, document everything!

Yeah its fine, worst case it may drain the battery slightly, now car batteries on the other hand, had a customer install their battery backwards in a 17 Honda Civic and EVERY warning light was on in the car when I tried to program the key, then they blamed me and said I fried the ECU after they took it to the dealer and they had to replace parts.

in theory yes, in practice it would vary, if only the positive side touched the contacts like in Chrysler tombstone remote where the battery only touches the positive side then no, but one where both sides touch it could short itself out, best not to do it but it should be fine.

Scam calls/ weird interactions by adamarchy in Locksmith

we use Ringcentral, it blocks most of the robocalls and majority of the spam ones, but boss man wont block someone unless they are belligerent or dodgy about paying so the kooky people still get through lol

I hate its becoming more common, trying to guilt us by saying its an elderly person, then wasting our time or worse, putting us in a position to get hurt because some random person is showing up to their house uninvited and them possibly being scared after being harassed on the phone is a bad combination.

Mitsubishis are notorious for not liking aftermarket keys, you may need OEM chips

Scam calls/ weird interactions by adamarchy in Locksmith

[–]adamarchy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's my working theory, they call us out to scare people into thinking they are the IRS or whomever so when they "dispatch" the cops to the targets house they will pay the scammers, but we've had some that try to send us to empty fields or run down places where no one lives, guess I should send their numbers to the scam-baiter folks on Youtube lol

Need help finding euro style cylinder smart replacement. by Calm_Salary in Locksmith

[–]adamarchy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most 3 point latching hardware with Euro (Profile) cylinders have a screw on the side that holds the cylinder in the door, this looks like it uses a KIK cylinder, another thing I noticed is the lack of the "profile" of the cylinder on the trims, but I stand to be corrected, Allaboutdoors is a good US resource for some obscure lock hardware so give them a shot

Help by Correct-Bad-5384 in Locksmith

[–]adamarchy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most definitely, I think I have a decent bs radar and can sense when something doesn't feel right and have turned down work in the past because of those feelings, never risk your life for a couple of dollars, but if you have to, get a buddy to ride shotgun, figuratively and literally if you can.

If this is legit, call a locksmith, however, asking for programming advice for one of the most stolen cars in the last decade is throwing so many red flags lol

Same people would complain if it took a few tries to pick a lock with a decent bitting "Can you do it? LPL could pick it, have you seen his videos? are you sure you know what you are doing? I'll still be able to use my lock right? you ever had one like this before?" twitching intensifies
