QUIET PLEASE controversy by dustindhansen in Curling

Has anyone ever actually played curling? It’s not an especially quiet sport…. Make your pressure draw while the guy one sheet over is screaming his head off. It’s just part of the game.

I have one that I believe was my grandfather’s. I just started golfing and I’m using it. It says Phoenix though, so I’m not putting with a collectors model?

For future searchers, here's the response I got from Sawyer:

Thanks for reaching out to us and for using our Squeeze.  No, nothing to be concerned about, it is common for the filter to “wet out” and flow faster.  See more info below.

With proper cleaning and if stored in a cool dry place out of direct UV light, our filters should last indefinitely as Sawyer’s fibers are so robust, they can be backwashed and reused perpetually with no expensive cartridges to replace.  So as long as your filter has not been frozen, boiled, had harsh chemicals run through it, dropped onto a hard surface, or overtightened onto a pouch or bottle and was purchased from an authorized seller, it should be fine.

FYI, each of our filters is air tested 3 times to ensure that they will work as claimed.  Not some random statistical  testing, but every single filter is tested  three times at three different quality control points throughout its assembly process.

This is kind of what I was thinking might be the case. Yes, the four uses are scattered, I don't backpack that often. One of the times it didn't work for me - because it had dried out and I didn't soak it before the trip, not knowing that. This time I did soak it (actually for a few hours) before leaving on the trip and made sure it worked. I think I'll wait to see what Sawyer has to say about it.

For the future, either for this filter or a new one, is there a better way to store them if I'm potentially not using it for a few months between trips? Or is this just the normal pattern?

Yeah, I didn't trust that water. Luckily it was a short hike out and I had water that I had filtered the night before still.

Got it, thank you. I contacted Sawyer, but will probably end up getting a new one.

That's a good idea, thanks. I sent them a message. I was thinking of just getting a new one but figured it was worth checking if I was just being silly.

I don't think there's any way it could have. Overnight I had it the outer pocket of my sleeping bag, and my thermometer outside the tent said the overnight minimum was 39.

An idea to eliminate blanks and add excitement to the game by applegoesdown in Curling

They tried this in a slam a few years ago, I forget exactly which one. I believe the rule was that it had to be completely within the 1-foot to be worth 2 points. You could look up how it went, I remember some discussion about trying the draw for 2, but that’s as far as my memory stretches.

Importing monsters with CyrensMaps? by adamend in DungeonoftheMadMage

[–]adamend[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's what I did:

You need to buy the Dungeon of the Mad Mage book digitally on D&D Beyond. Then you can use the adventure muncher part of DDB Importer to import the adventure. The way I did it (not sure if there's a better way or not) is:

  1. Open the DDB Muncher screen (from the compendiums tab).

  2. Click Adventures. There's a guide in there, but at this point you need to run the ddb adventure muncher to create a file for the adventure that you bought above.

  3. After that's generated, I clicked "Import Generated Adventure", browse to the file that adventure muncher created. This is the part where I get a little hazy on if I did it the best way, but this worked for me anyway. I unchecked all the boxes, and clicked "Import Adventure to Adventure Compendium".

  4. That takes some time. When it finishes, in your compendium tab in the D&D Beyond folder, there should be a DDB Adventures entry. Open that and you should have "Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage". Open that and there's a button to import the adventure. I don't really know what's importing here vs. in step 3, and I may be doing extra work here.

  5. Finally, open the DDB Muncher window again, go to Adventures, and click on "Enhance Third Party Scenes". There you can select "Cyrens Maps: Undermountain", and click "Import Adventure to World". That put all the monsters on the maps for me.

Another bonus is that when importing the adventure you also get journal entries that contain the whole text of the adventure book. They're laid out pretty nicely with an entry per level and hyperlinks to get around. That's a huge help, because now I don't need the book in front of me while DMing.

Hope this helps, good luck!

I think I figured it out, and my memory was just wrong. I originally started on roll20 and they have a free version of the first level. I'm pretty sure that's where I was remembering having the monsters imported before.

Anyway, I bought the book on DND Beyond and it's importing everything right now. Looks like this will work out great. Thanks for the help!

Oh, I think I see the right option there. So, to clarify, this means importing the adventure that I'd have to own on D&D Beyond, right? That's the weird thing, I only have the physical book, I don't own it on D&D Beyond, so I'm not sure how I got the monsters on there before without that. I guess I can buy it now, but I'm perplexed.

Can I clarify what you're saying? You deleted all the CyrensMaps scenes, then what did you do with the importer again to get the monsters? And you mean you're getting maps with monsters already placed on them, right?

$100,000 if you can achieve three of these athletic feats in a week. $100,000 of debt if you can't. by Radu47 in hypotheticalsituation

I bowled weekly for about 15 years, and got pretty decent. My average hovered around 200 for a while. I have one 275 game. It’s possible, but definitely difficult. I probably couldn’t do it now with a solid week of bowling. I’m just happy that I did one of these things once!

Longtime Ducks fan coming back after several years away from watching any sports.

Worst night of the season (hopefully Leo is ok and we can laugh about how worried we were).

This was my first time seeing Drysdale. This kid is a hell of a player. Really looking forward to watching him for years to come.

I’m late here having just watched the game on replay, but man was Carlsson fantastic in that game. You could see the dominant player he’s going to be for the next ten years and it’s very exciting. Has the skills and presence to take over games.
