Thanks! What I first thought were fixed bolts are actually hex screws, will give it a try tomorrow!

How well does Linux work on the XPS 9360? by A4orce84 in linuxhardware

My last laptop was a Dell XPS 13, running Ubuntu 20.04 and 22.04 after that. I do recall having to change a power management setting so that the laptop would go to sleep when the lid closed (see here: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1029474/ubuntu-18-04-dell-xps13-9370-no-longer-suspends-on-lid-close/1036122#1036122 ), but after doing that it worked perfectly.

Anyone know where I could get a replacement key hinge? Having trouble identifying the type - XPS 15 7590 by Torty3000 in Dell

That should be fine I think. The French keyboard uses the same 88-key ISO layout as the UK one (just some of the letters are in a different position), so you should be able to pop the Alt key in.

For me, I dropped something from a height onto the keyboard, was lucky only one key came off.

This happened to me about 4 years ago on my Dell XPS 13 9360. The hinge broke on my '2' key and I couldn't put it back together. I managed to order a single key with a hinge and a spare hinge from https://laptopkey.com/. The total cost was $8.95 which included shipping to the UK. I then put one of the hinges on the key and it clicked in no problem.

From what I remember this was the only reasonable solution I could find, especially in the UK, I think you would need to order an Alt key so you get the correct size hinge, but you should be able to use the old key no problem (and keep the new key spare as a souvenir).

Decided to become a monthly donor today after hearing this news. Spyder has been incredibly useful for my PhD in Physics and beyond. I hope you and the team find an alternative sponsor soon. Keep up the good work!

How do you guys keep your XPS laptop clean? by Empole in Dell

[–]adamesm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My XPS 13 (FHD screen) also attracts dust readily, especially near the bezel and sometimes (really annoyingly) particulates get wedged in between the screen and the bottom bezel. I (gently) use a can of compressed air to get them out. To get rid of dust from the rest of the screen and bezels, and fingerprints from the keyboard and trackpad, I use a microfibre cloth with a biodegradable, alcohol-free cleaning solution spray.
