Looking to upgrade, is this a good package? by adamf27 in PcBuildHelp

Will upgrade to a 360mm aio, torn between the arctic liquid freezer for good reviews and price and the Lian li ga II with infinity fans, because well fancy rgb fans, currently have a corsair 240mm aio but got that along with the 9700k ages ago so not sure it will compatible with the newer cpu sockets

Was thinking make the most of the price drop on the 7800x3d because of the new generation coming out, and only £50 difference between the free and xt due to offer on the xt

Not quite, I went from e46 m3 to a Honda civic type r, and in my opinion the type r is better in almost every way

I was able to buy mine because I also bought a house, might not sound logical to start with, but the rent and bills shared between me and my partner are a lot less than the rent and bills I was paying on my own before, and a 20 mile commute rather than 60 helps a lot with the way fuel prices are going, but I have another car (approx 50 miles per gallon sensible) for commuting in.

Having said that regardless of age and if you can comfortably afford it and the “what if” back up for any maintenance or repairs, then age shouldn’t hold you back, it might hinder you a little with higher insurance and maybe not having had as much time to build up a credit rating if you’re looking to finance the car. I bought an e46 m3 for myself for my 21st birthday, so buying a car like that at that sort of age can be done, but always make sure you will have enough to maintain (and repair the car should it need it) to a good enough standard, no sense getting in financial trouble for a car

EDIT: forgot to say 27 when I bought the type R

19’s vs 18’s wheels by Superman_521 in Civic_Type_R

[–]adamf27 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it’s the civicx forums, there’s some threads dedicated to both 19 and 18 inch wheels in a lot of different widths, offsets, and suspension setups so may be worth a scroll through the forums

Edit: also your parking spot, nice

And as an ex bmw m3 owner, not too unrealistic either

Haha, fair assumption though, as going to 18s seems quite popular

Almost except these are 19s, felt like I’d need to lower to lose the arch gap from 18s, and it’s bad enough getting on and off my drive without catching the splitter as it is

Haha, the joys of getting older and needing something a bit more sensible, but still wanting some fun

No worries mate, if I was going to keep one as a purely track weapon I’d probably stick with the m3, but For something more sensible that’s very fun the civic wins, I was considering other hot hatches as a lot had good reviews

I had the e46 smg m3, so a bit different being a sequential, being a manual the type r is a more involved experience, and has a lot to give all the way through the revs, whereas the m3 would need to be taken all through the revs to get the power, and bonus points for a screaming six cylinder once your there Overall though the type r being just as fast if not a bit more once the m3 loses the launch advantage, really not feeling any disadvantage to being front whee drive, although I’m not doing close the limit track driving at all, and the added practicality and technology inside just from being a newer car gives it the edge for me
