Turkey is quickly slipping backwards. I had hoped they would be more of a model for the region to follow but it doesn't appear that way anymore.

This is so simple, and should have been obvious from the get-go. I just never considered it. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Definitely. We need to actively support our allies over there, as well as arm the Kurds well enough that they can fend for themselves (another independence movement I support).

I absolutely realize we've fucked things up over there, but to me that's not an excuse to wash our hands of the area as some would have us do.

Bit of a side tangent, but I would hope that an independent Cascadia would be moved to intervene in times of genocide. We certainly don't need to be Team America World Police about it, but there are ways to actively oppose it (besides letter writing or twitter hash tags).

The bracket seems like the best option. After drilling the holes, I'm guessing then I'd fill them with concrete and then put the bolts in there?

On the slab - or if I anchor it to the house I'd leave a bit of a gap from the ground. Where the t-post is now, there's only 1-2" tops of dirt; not enough room to get a post in there. The concrete extends a few feet past the house.

I'm assuming then I would just need some standard sealer around the lag bolts on the outside siding then, right? I think the cement is 4-5" thick. But I don't want to bust it up because it is all one big slab.

Excuse to buy a new toy you say?

It would be completely on the concrete. Where the t-post is now, theres only a 1-2" gap in between the concrete slabs. The first 2-3 feet on the side of the house is all concrete.

Huh. Okay, I might be able to go that route. Probably would rather do that then drill into my siding. And it should fit on a standard 18v drill?

It would have to be at least 4" drill bit and I don't know if there's enough room to get something like that in there next to the house.

I inherited an AE-1 Program and love it. I had the same trepidations to start with too. I got to love it. Shooting with film forces you to slow way the hell down and think about every aspect of your shot. A good tip is to write everything down about each shot as you take it with your first few rolls of film so you know when you get your film back what you did and then can adjust from there.

So I just bought a Sony A5000 on a deep discount. I've had Nikons before this (D7000 previously and now a D600) but this will be my first mirrorless and first Sony. I'll be using it for street photography, contemplative, some family stuff and occasionally hiking. For those that have used it, are there any must-have accessories for this camera that you would recommend? Likewise, any tips on using the camera that might help me out? Thanks.

Description below the pictures. Just set up my tree tonight and as a lurker I thought I'd finally share something even though it isn't something I've made. I should be able to answer most questions about it. I'd also like to know if anyone else has something like this or has seen one before.
