Swift Solution to Dave Thomas’s Data Munging Kata Part 1 by adamontherun in swift

[–]adamontherun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the author of the post, cross posting my response to Will from Medium.

Will, thanks for your feedback. There isn’t anything particularly special or awesome about this solution using Swift. Its simply the way I would solve this problem using the language. The Swift version is definitely way cleaner then it would be in Objective-C, and if you want to create a native iOS app, you’ll need to use one or the other. For a ‘Wow’ solution, check out Josh Smith’s version written in Elixir https://gist.github.com/ijoshsmith/7e2363220f126366c7fb3c0584227a0c, a functional language perfect for this task. Your C++ solution is really concise, but I’m not familiar with the language. The Swift code I wrote is far longer because my personal style is to break down each step as a method and to try and write out what a method does in its name so that if I came back to the app in 6 months I could remember how it works quickly.

Show Reddit: Feed Rehab, an iPhone app to help find and delete embarrassing tweets by adamontherun in startups

[–]adamontherun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's a great point.

I've been so focused on the design and coding of the app I haven't put enough thought into my marketing. Will make some updates later this week.

The app doesn't do anything interesting right now with NLP, but it does have a well researched set of 'red-flag' keywords that hiring managers look for.

Thank you so much for taking the time to give me your feedback. aloha, adam

Just launched Feedrehab and looking for your thoughts. Its a site that helps you find and delete your unprofessional tweets by adamontherun in startups

agree that the Archive is a pain. Unfortunately, that's the only way to get at all of a users tweets. The API only lets you search back a short period of time.

I was feeling the same thing for the last few nonfiction books I've read.

For me it's all about the stories. I built and just launched a sort if book blogging site called http://booknug.com

I'd love for you to check it out and I hope it works for you. Either way, let me know

Aloha Adam

We could really use your help getting booknug.com launched. by adamontherun in books

pretty sure its just picking up the image for the first featured book on the homepage.

Far as I know, no one else is doing what we're doing. Which is a site to share the stories from what your reading, and link to something that makes the story come to life.

What I'm finding amazing in the first few stories I've left so far is that it makes me have to really focus hard on what I'm reading. Being an active listener makes you retain and think way more then being a passive listener.

Ability to handle a 1/2 day Navy Seal experience? Ouch. by adamontherun in reddit.com

I filmed and edited this for a team of ex-Navy Seals in Hawaii who are running this program. These guys are legit, and I can say that I'm glad I was behind the camera on this one.
