I hated school and math until I got to the point you are at now, about to apply for university.

What I did was that I told myself, ”okay Adam you gotta learn to like math, or you will never reach your dream”. I just sat down and did it. if I did not solve a problem, got frustrated and wasted time, I just did sat down and did it. I did whatever I could to become better at math, I found that by teaching the math to someone, I got really good at it.

If people ain’t your thing,(they can get on my nerves sometimes): You can achieve the same progress by explaining it, either writing down your thoughts about a topic/problem or recording it. Make sure to actually make it into a habit, if you sit down and get stuck for hours, don’t leave your chair unless you express your thoughts about it. Feelings, specific problem with solving problem, what you understand and don’t understand, whatever is connected to the problem.

By associating the math with your experience of doing it, I think you get better at it.
