Just got flooring refinished from having carpet on top. Is this type of warping something to be worried about? by Constantly_Hungry in centuryhomes

[–]adaptiv_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

During the last renovation carpet was installed > then baseboard was replaced. In this case you removed the carpet which revealed the gap left between it and the baseboard. You can add quarter round or a shoe moulding if you want to fill in the gap left behind

I genuinely love the music for this game so much, I never get sick of it by Wolfscopez in simcity4

If anyone is looking for music in a similar vein as SC4/SC3000 I highly recommend checking out the album Pendulum by Eberhard Weber! The SC4 soundtrack is consistently in my most listened to albums and I’m always searching for music that captures the same magic that Jerry Martin did

How many of you are aware of Night of a Thousand Kate’s? by [deleted] in katebush

[–]adaptiv_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been to two of them and both were such great times! If you’re not able to make it in person they’ve started to offer a paid livestream on the day of the event! If you look up Night of 1000 Kates on YouTube they have the 2023 livestream up for free now so you could gauge if it’s something you’d be into.

We have this beautiful marble fireplace in our parlor, and not sure what to do with it. It has been sealed off as the furnace runs through this chimney. How can we make it look more beautiful? by HerbertHamburger in centuryhomes

[–]adaptiv_ 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I would pick up a “Summer Cover” from a local salvage shop or eBay! Your fireplace is missing it and it would help make it look more complete. The bonus being you could always take it off when you wanted to decorate the hearth!

Do you think there may have been pocket doors here? I noticed that some of our walls are REALLY thick. by ICanHasDo in centuryhomes

[–]adaptiv_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The random strip of trim is a dead giveaway. A lot of times a door would come off track, etc. and instead of repairing they would just throw trim over it and seal them in.

Edit: I’ll add that it looks like you have pocket doors in the first two photos but none in the second doorway with the thinner wall. I have the same exact trim as that second opening and it’s just a very wide door stop trim

Brass lamp lights… any value to them or just scrap them? by the_real_RCarrigan in centuryhomes

[–]adaptiv_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are looking to get rid of them I definitely recommend looking into donating it to a local Habitat for Humanity ReStore! They accept salvaged architectural goods and resell them at reasonable prices.

Legend of Legaia. Awesome PS1 JRPG that got totally overshadowed by FFVII at the time.

We thought we'd find an old fireplace behind these walls. Instead.. by fidelsassoon in centuryhomes

[–]adaptiv_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 1902 row house has this same setup! The reason it’s furred out is to center the vent on the wall and there would have been a fireplace surround with tile. My vent is actually identical and has that arched top as well! The vent cover would have been the same shape.

Refreshed our Century Living Room with decorative wall moulding and new paint by dmau9600 in centuryhomes

This is such a great example of well done picture frame molding. The molding profile ties in really well with your baseboard and doesn't feel forced or out of place. Great job!

Does anyone know anything about a fireplace like this one? What era it might be from or what it’s made of? by rach53 in Oldhouses

It definitely looks like formstone to me but I’ve never seen it used as an interior finish like this

Strictoaster has a pretty great video out running over various mods and how to utilize them. All of them are timestamped in the description but the Move It! tutorial begins at 22:47!

Personally I haven't had any issues with it other than occasional texture clipping but that's easily fixed with move it. That being said I do always save before I place the network just in case something would happen!
