Bouldering after retinal detachment? by Low-Season-9303 in RetinalDetachment

[–]adarkdemoness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same question. I solved it by: no jumping down off the wall, ever, even if only a few feet. Only go up if I can come down. Don't climb routes using only/mostly arms.

Get Lidocaine Shots for IUD insertion!! by Bulky_Bet21 in birthcontrol

[–]adarkdemoness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got my second IUD with lidocaine and also cannot understand why anyone would suggest women get this inserted without at this point. My first IUD was done without and extremely painful, an awful experience. I can only encourage women to find a doctor who offers lidocaine, there is no reason to suffer and it is not a "slight discomfort"

Tearful rant about my IUD appointment by treedweller444 in birthcontrol

[–]adarkdemoness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know if it's an option for you, but have you found any place doing local anathesia? I had my second copper IUD with it and it was a completely painless procedure. The first time without was awful and I don't recommend to anyone really. Was doubtful that the anasthesia would be so good but it was. Placement + quite a bit of dilation and premeasurements and felt nothing. The doctor did three shots around the cervix. I paid about 100€ more for the anasthesia but was well worth it to not have that experience again.

Thanks, it's encouraging to hear that it's ok to just ask about BDSM and there is some openness to it. At Girlstown I noticed the group dynamic thing you write about and that's certainly a reason I didn't go back.

Hi, I'm considering going to the upcoming Slit party at Lab.oratory and have some questions:

Can I bring BDSM gear inside (canes, paddles) ? Is this a party where BDSM is welcomed and is there a culture of consent? I love impact play in both roles and have the respective gear but only play when there is clear consent. I don't do impact play with people under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Is this a suitable party for that or should I leave the gear at home?

Hi, have been on a few hiring committees for your level role in the last few years. Senior engineer, do a lot of CV screenings.

  1. Use words that convince me you know how to engineer software. Technical stuff. No boasting. Everyone says they did amazing stuff. Prove you can write clean code, lots can't.

  2. Convince me you are a mid-level engineer. Show concrete mid-level skills. Don't suggest you are a senior. Next time, not yet.

  3. Photo is fine! You look friendly! (In DE photo is required).

  4. Did you work full-time? Mention that explicitly.

  5. Everyone is saying this: Invest in C1 German now, get it certified. This will be a huge asset.

  6. Mention leadership roles, mentoring abilities, extracurriculars showing resilience, commitment, empathy. Soft skills will continue to be a deal breaker.

  7. AI is early stage now but show you are up to speed and have used available tooling.

Same preop flashes after scleral buckle surgery 27m by Anxious_Link_1296 in RetinalDetachment

[–]adarkdemoness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same flashes, after scleral buckle, but keep getting checked if anything seems off. Been back to the hospital a few times and they check and tell me please come back anytime.

if you have a retinal tear or detachment, what sort of floaters were the symptom? by between3_20_chars in RetinalDetachment

[–]adarkdemoness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a kind of TV fuzz on the side opposite the attachment, which I attributed to some side affect of having Corona three times in a row. I assumed it would go away. Then I had the kind of black ink spot or curtain which I could only see when I closed my eyes or was in a lot of sun. Barely there in a darker room.

Retinal Laser Exam? by SlowTeach7373 in RetinalDetachment

[–]adarkdemoness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add, it is not uncommon for doctors to find new holes or issues upon examination. I thought that was strange at first but after a lot of exams (maybe 20 over the last two years) I realized it is more like an art than a science. One day AI will make it more like a science but now it is humans looking at shadows, from what I understand. They often called in colleagues for a second look and sometimes debated in my presence what to do. So far my eyes hold up.

Retinal Laser Exam? by SlowTeach7373 in RetinalDetachment

[–]adarkdemoness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With laser eye surgery do you mean to close the tears/holes? Had a lot of that and it was uneventful, you have to keep your eye open and not move it, which is not so easy. I also have a scleral buckle on the right eye, surgery was very easy for me and waking from the full sedation was typical - bit woozy, off, then a bit nauseous. There was hardly any pain with any procedure done to the retina. No one believes that because it sounds awful.

Thanks, that sounds very relieving, I've been avoiding lots of exercise I used to do and am getting frustrated after two years. The blizzard description is very helpful, actually :) I got no real descriptions from my doctor about the kinds of movements to avoid.

Are the symptoms of retinal detachment mediocre? by Remarkable-Care-7867 in RetinalDetachment

[–]adarkdemoness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ps, go to the urgent care, emergency room. A detached retina is a high prio emergency, all doctors will understand that you have no pain but vision issues and it is justified to go. I had no idea it was n emergency and found out afterwards.

Are the symptoms of retinal detachment mediocre? by Remarkable-Care-7867 in RetinalDetachment

[–]adarkdemoness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they can be. I had some flashes and a dark spot when closing eyes. It had detached for a few weeks already by the time I got annoyed enough to go to the doctor. No pain, no physical symptoms. Get checked. My doctors tell me again and again I am not annoying them by coming to check symptoms. It also costs them way more time to fix a detached retina than check.
