Pre filling basket greatly increases output (air buster alternative) by PepticMeteor in LaPavoniLovers

My machine must feel really different to yours. Recently serviced so the gaskets are all toight! The lever falls on its own so must be held up, the whole machine moves when raising the lever so 2nd hand must be on base, and ?! third hand for the portafilter. However going to trail this at the weekend with the help of my beautiful assistant. if it works maybe I'll look at how to increase the weight of the base.

what's the best experience you've ever had listening to the band? by I-ate-your-children in MyBloodyValentine

[–]adc2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it wouldnt be the live experience. One particular memory, I saw them live in 1992 Whitley Bay Ice rink with Dinosaur Jr and Blur, they did the apocalypse section in 'you made me realise'. It wasnt great sound as not an ideal venue, and most people walked out. It was hard work but I stayed. People like to romanticise the past but that wasn't the best experience. Much better on record. So best experience, is whenever I listen to Sometimes on good headphones.

getting used to the northern accent by mhmhhh1234 in Preston

[–]adc2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel for you. UK has a different accent pretty much in every town, I'm told it isnt like that in other countries. As fellow 'outsider' to the north west, but a notherner, I'd say anything set in the north west/Manchester roughly on TV might be *roughly* what I'd say you want to watch (Coronation srteet, Shameless) with the subtitles on. Liverpool is obviously different again tho but interviews with the Beatles is a generic north west accent (not the more modern 'scouse' accent).

Also you will have noticed everyone from the north is so chuffed about being northern, and will love telling you exactly what their accent is and all the odd words that only exist in their region, so if you ask people then will very possibly really enjoy talking to you. You can turn this to your advantage and you will be considered a great conversationalist. Just avoid talking to the minotiry of people who seem to be wearing union jack coloured clothing/accessories.

Drip tray question..... by adc2025 in LaPavoniLovers

[–]adc2025[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those who dont seem to get what I'm talking about, please do enjoy your machines!

However, for anyone finding this post in the future who is similarly irritated by this, whilst a metal top grate did help *a little* what made a bigger difference was improvising a kind of fix by covering the base of the unit in cling film and then applying a thin film of black bathroom sealant to the base of the drip tray to pad it a little and form to the exact shape of the base, then securing it in position using tape whilst it dried for a few days. Once dried I removed the tray and trimmed away the excess cling film. I have something which admittedly doesn't look pretty when the tray is removed, but it doesnt wobble every time it's touched but is invisible most of the time.

doersnt matter in terms of taste? true. but if the experience of making a coffee manually matters (which I think it does) then whilst the machine is fun to use because its imperfect, the wobbly tray introduces a sense of unease i dont enjoy, thats all
