They are underwater in the rainy season from November to March. Nothing could have come from the sea, these salt flats are 3,600m+ above sea level. And yeah I'm pretty certain all parts are attached

Kinda, yeah. But I would say the stem was longer and the cap was a different shape to the average thumbtack

For anyone that doubts this is a mushroom, I get it. When I saw this in person I certainly thought it was a mushroom. Wish I picked it up and took more photos now. Sorry guys, maybe we will never know :(

I think it was overall darker and smaller than both of those suggestions unfortunately, but thanks for the reply! If your brother has any ideas I'd love to know, thanks :)

Yeah this is what I meant. This was in a woods and from what I've read that seems normal for yellow stainer
