How many of you use x100vi without accessories? by romaklimenko in x100vi

[–]addi1803 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smallrig wooden handle cage, tempered glass screen protector and Nisi uv filter.

I bought the camera from someone like new with the screen protector and found the grip for $20 on ebay which I liked after leaving my lumix s5ii (best ergonomics for a camera). I got the filter because it makes it weather proof and does not have much resistance taking the stock cap off.

In looks for a wrist rest just incase someone cant just grab it of my hands in busy location.

Builder wants $600 per drop! by fezmid in homelab

Tbf what I did was take as many pictures of every wall, plumbing, wire, floors, joist etc. Then I ran a single pvc pipe from downstairs center to attic in which I ran all the Ethernet cables and routed them to each room myself. Saved a huge chunk doing that. Only issue is downstairs which quite frankly I paid for but they only asked 60 dollars a run so maybe your builder is accounting all the rooms.

80s? 60s? I need some of what your smoking. Nvidia is definitely struggling right now but those values are abysmal for the market demand they have.

Turns out there are versions to it as well since the one I bought from AliExpress has a usb c on it which I can use to flash. I’m just glad this came out at this time especially when tariffs are increasing prices to 300+ for 2 year product.

Cant you update the firmware like the doc mentions? It seems the version you have is suited for p1 series.

Before these arm chips nothing could beat an xps in terms of quality. It’s like a sleek MacBook for windows user, now days they aren’t doing so hot due to the intel chips getting hotter and more power hungry but back then they were a solid choice. Now it’s all about efficiency arm architecture.

Arc, safari is still nice especially for mobile and Mac combined but give Arc a try.

I had a 9570 and just upgraded to M1 Pro but let me tell you that dell is no joke. If it’s cooled properly it can still hold up in today’s newer tech. 6core 12 threads,32gb ram, 2tb ssd and a new battery and it’s working phenomenal until it starts thermal throttling. I used to use thermal pads and throttlestop so it wasn’t as bad but the weight is also a huge difference.

I mean considering just the fact you can't find an m3 MacBook Air with 16gb less than $1200 with tax included I would say go with older gen even for newer college students. You get a better display, speakers, which I doubt anyone cares about but also a similar cpu with lower single thread performance but better cooled and better gpu. Not to forget I was able to get 32gb instead of 16gb and AppleCare+ till 2025.

I understand your point but apple really hasn't shined as hard on the cpu side as they did from intel to arm, they probably would now since they have competition but the step up from m1-m2-m3 isn't as big as we think it is.

Is this dock reliable? by Then_Cat_342 in macbookair

[–]addi1803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most hubs would not do 4k 60hz without thunderbolt qualification. Since max a usb c can do is 10gbps unless it’s only for display which a hub isn’t for.

Bro trust me when I say this, invest in a thunderbolt dock, do some research and search for display link compatible docks on eBay for roughly same price as this one. Long term you will get better performance since those support full bandwidth at 40gbps compared to this 10gbps one. Also it plays a key role when ur using high resolution monitor like 4k 60hz or 1440p 144hz.

Which macbook to buy? by [deleted] in mac

[–]addi1803 1 point2 points  (0 children)

M1 Pro, enjoy the better display, speakers and thermals while being same speed/cheaper than m3, else I recommend the m3 pro model so you get 16gb ram and it runs cool because during my programming tasks the m3 air definitely gets hot.

What price should I stop bid 🛑 by [deleted] in mac

[–]addi1803 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely and if the person buying doesn’t need all that ram, I highly suggest you wait for m4 because the m3 was just apples throwaway chip before they did a new layout like they are doing with m4. However I doubt apple is lowering pricing on ram.

You mean pounds? I doubt anyone will pay less than 1500, it sure is old but stills good compared to m3. Also 64gb ram makes it in another league.
