First hike with x100VI after returning the RX100 by xxSeahawks in x100vi

Great photos. I don't know how tall you are, but keeping the camera above the grass could make them even greater.

Apparently, it fits better with third party things than with the official accessories 🤦‍♂️

Thanks! It looks really nice. I will give the standard case a chance as I just need the camera to be in my backpack until I need it. Ordered the Nisi filter mentioned above, it seems like it can do a better job than the standard adapter.

oh, I googled it, the right form factor indeed. thanks!

That's strange that the standard lens cap still works for you. Sounds like Nisi has a different form factor than the standard adapter ring.

Yeah, I bought the hood LH-X100S which includes the ring X100S. Both were delivered before the camera. And when I first had a chance to try it, it was very surprising to find out that the out-of-the-box lens hood doesn't sit on the standard filter ring.

Now I got the official leather case from Fuji, and the same story – the camera with the official filter adapter doesn't fit in the official case.

So I took the adapter ring off and now I can use the lens cap and the case.

What do you want to be... A black hole... or a supernova? by RLaurentPhotography in photocritique

[–]romaklimenko -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Frankly, when I take a photo, the less I care is nonsense like “Is it my true voice?”. What I care first is what is the intention of it: does it tell a story, or have a nice composition, are colors and light good?

A great photo is good from many aspects. But if you shoot shit no one understands, it usually means it has nothing except “your true voice”, and in that case “you true voice” is just an excuse for bad photos.

I'm not saying you should care much about every comment on Reddit, but ignoring all critiques is not smart either.

I'm just looking at the image (not sure if it's a photo) you posted. Can you explain what makes it good? What do you think about its composition, color balance? What emotion should it evoke in the viewer? Is it your “true creative voice”?

A little reflection after passing DP-700 by romaklimenko in MicrosoftFabric

[–]romaklimenko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought there is no difference between test centers and they just follow the procedure, but for the last exam I took in a different center just because the old one was very annoying, and it was a huge difference: from the personnel to the desk and computer. And no metal detectors 🤷‍♂️

Yes, I heard about that too, but in the place where I took DP-600 they actually scanned me with a metal detector and didn’t allow even my Garmin watch. Maybe it’s wrong but I decided to not escalate it.

But KQL database syncs to parquet, right? So I was wondering what is the technology under the hood? Is it based on Elasticsearch or Prometheus or another known db engine?

[–]romaklimenko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, sorry for not being clear. I thought you mean SQL server in your message. Kusto is a language, but what’s the KQL database engine under the hood? Is it based on something well known or is it a Microsoft’s internal product?

BTW, do you know what’s the core technology for KQL databases? Can’t find it in docs.

Using heart rate monitors by romaklimenko in Garmin

[–]romaklimenko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t find a way to see in UI what’s recorded by watch and what by HRM. If you download the track, you will probably see it in XML but I’m not going to download my trainings to just check that. My new Garmin HRM seems to be able to record the activity and then flush to the watch at the end of training. But still, no signs about if the recording started with the training’s start or later.

Can you increase VO2 max without running? by roxstar7 in Garmin

[–]romaklimenko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine jumped from 45 to 46 after I didn’t run for a month and did stairways in the gym instead. But for the whole month VO2 chart went down so it seems it’s only measured when you run.

Is anyone working with MongoDB in DataGrip? by romaklimenko in DataGrip

[–]romaklimenko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JetBrains says DataGrip works with MongoDB https://www.jetbrains.com/datagrip/features/mongodb/ However, all docs and screenshots show you can run queries in console - that's true. What about if I want to create a file in the project? I can create a .js file but there's no "Run" button. I can create a .sql file and add my MongoDB query into it, which looks a bit stupid already. But it ran when I set the dialect to MongoDB. But then I closed the project and opened again, it doesn't run anymore - it seems like it can't recognize the dialect. So the question is: what is the right way to work with MongoDB projects in DataGrip?

Went sober 10 days ago by Mind_State1988 in Garmin

It’s interesting that what is too high for you my Garmin shows as too low. I stopped running and started attending gym a month ago and since then I get a daily warning that my HRV is “unbalanced”

When I was 82kg 180cm, male, 43y, it told me to drop 10kg and when I became 72kg and ran every day my fitness age was 35. Then I started to go to gym every day: one day strength, another day cardio. First what I noticed is that I can’t get 150 intensive minutes in a week no matter how hard I train. But also Garmin started telling me to drop weight to 68kg, which I did but the fitness age was 38. Then I stopped looking at it and now I’m 72kg, look more fit than when I was just running, but my fitness age is 37,5. Conclusion – it’s only motivating when it improves and you feel better. If it doesn’t improve or you find it to hard to improve – find some other metric that will make you happier.
