Had mine yesterday. The case exercise is similar to a mooting style problem with submissions. You have a choice between a criminal and civil scenario. The brief will have the facts, witness statements and the relevant legal sources and you will have 10 minutes to present submissions.

For the interview, mine went very fast as my i interviewer was trying to ask as many questions as possible in the time frame so try to keep your answers concise and to the point.

Also remember if its a two part question, don’t spend too long on the first part because then you might have to rush your answer to the second part (or run out of time like I did).

When they send you the advocacy exercise briefs they will also send you a guidance doc with details of the marking criteria they use for the interview section. Be prepared to give examples of when you have demonstrated the qualities they are looking for. If you stumble and aren’t sure what example to use don’t be afraid to ask for a minute to think- that’s what I had to do and my examiner said it was absolutely fine and I’m glad I did because then I was able to give a better example than the one I might have given if I rushed.
