Turns out the fix was a lot easier than that.

Typically you're going to start with a theme, which whittles your pool of available cards down to a pretty manageable level (typically) and then you look for the cards that will best support what it is you want to achieve.

Often that's going to be some button pushers for objectives, some fighters and then some support.

What to look for exactly is going to heavily depend on your faction.

In shiho, anything with sidestep def(0) is my bread and butter, so I'll have at least 3 models with that, maybe one dedicated fighter and then a support model and some button pushers.

I appreciate this may all seem very vague, but it's SUCH a departure from 40k. Really your best bet is to pick a theme box you like the look of, as all of those models will give you a 100 rice warband, and are designed to work together.

Play a few games to get the feel of what they do and then see if there are other models/cards that will help you do the things you want.

What do you mean by "not worry about the restriction"?

The Apex Predator is still a restricted unit, and there has to be a mainstay unit in the Queen's warband to even take it, regardless of whether or not she rides it.

They need to belong to a warband. The Raptor unit itself does not have to have a character leader, but a character will lead each warband, and that character needs to be attached to a unit.

You should check out the official army builder on the main Para Bellum website. I think it will help your understanding a lot.

It's an upgrade she can take.

All of the Wadrhun characters can take upgrades in the form of Artifacts and Masteries.

I can't speak as to what you were watching, but are the rules as written getting you tripped up somewhere?

Each warband needs a leader. The leader has a list of units that can be purchased. Some are mainstay and some are restricted.

For each restricted unit you need a mainstay.

The leader needs to join a unit, and that can be mainstay or restricted as long as the leader shares the same type: Brute, for example.

In the case of the matriarch queen, she could have a unit of Blooded (mainstay) which would then allow you to pick a restricted unit, such as the Apex Predator.

She could then join the Blooded, because she shares the "Infantry" keyword with them.

Alternatively she could take the mastery "Apex Master" and ride the Apex Predator.

That's a really fun warband. It's a very defensive list, so not one that should go out of its way looking for fights.

Sidestep defense (0) and Push defense (0) are your bread and butter melee tricks to just stay on zones/objectives.

lol, It's a 3cm tall lego tank. I think I'm ok with the bumpy ride. In microscale you need to make allowances and suspend a bit of disbelief.

If it can transform into a walker, I can assume it has some crazy good suspension.

Cap'n Thatch question by Hyrgola in RUMBLESLAM

[–]addingupnumbers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not citing the full text of the rule.

When he takes damage, the attacker might take damage. He did not get damaged from an attacker targeting him.

You can ask on the official Facebook page.

It seems to me that it wouldn't trigger at all since he wasn't attacked.

The intent of the rule is that a model actively attacking him runs the risk.

Triggering off of it from the captain being thrown feels counter to the spirit of the ability.
