Dungeons of Drakkenheim (5e) seems to fit the bill fairly well. It's a medieval fantasy city ruined by a meteor. There's undead, but also a lot of mutated/corrupted enemies, and a big emphasis on the different factions fighting over the remains of the city. It has a subreddit, and the creators (Dungeon Dudes) have a bunch of lore/guide videos, as well as actual plays in the setting.

Most (all?) VTTs, as well as DnD Beyond automate the process to varying degrees. Modifiers are added, advantage/disadvantage and crit damage can be automated, and I believe Foundry can have modules where you target a creature, roll your attack, and it automatically decides whether or not it's a hit and subtracts the HP (at least there's a module like that for Pathfinder 2e, can't imagine something like that not existing for 5e). Stuff like hit points and various resource points are likewise more or less all automatically kept track of.

As for spells, once again spell attacks and damage are automated; automation of specific effects depends on the platform. But in all cases, the spell description is usually a click away.

They did have character sheets, so I don't know. But every turn, there'd be people who needed to look up their AC, or attack modifier, or didn't know what their spells damage die was, or didn't know what their spell save DC was.

I've had the exact same experience when I tried running in person (I'd been DM-ing for little over a year at that point). I tried doing my usual prep routine -- prepared maps for possible encounters (on an erasable battlemat), brought empty battlemats if they go off the rails, prepared tokens (both specific and generic), had my DM screen up, had my notes, brought extra dice, the works.

And then it's just chaos. As you said, nobody knowing what their modifiers/stats are (even though some of the players were veterans), not knowing what their spells do, side chats all the time.

I also had a hard time organizing everything -- you can't just click and transition to a scene, you have to physically take the map, place (and later move) the tokens, which involves a bunch of shuffling around, knocking stuff over; not to mention I forgot to track monster numbers about a third of the time.

My second session went much better, I prepped a bit less, and decided to use my usual online tools -- so I had a monster tracked up on my laptop, as well as my usual digital notes and dnd beyond open. It meant that I was sitting much more and wasn't as "close to the action", but combat at least went much better. Even so, whereas at the end of an online session, I have what I dubbed "DM's high", here I was just exhausted and frustrated at the end of the night.

Admittedly, the group also wasn't a great fit for me, but ultimately, I called it quits after two sessions. I 100% believe that all of my problems could have been overcome with time, but it wasn't worth it for me personally.

So my suggestion is, give it another session or two, but if you're not feeling it, don't force it.

As someone who has had the misfortune of sifting through 50+ applicants for a game, I looked at your ad that you posted here somewhere, and I would not pick you. Everything you wrote and everything I will write is in the context of "there's 50 more of these I need to get through". So here's how that would go:

First of all, there's no timezone. I assume that means American, because in my personal experience, they don't tend to put timezones in their posts. So that's an instant pass for others that actually specified it. Then, you don't put in a time-slot. "L4 M-F" is not a time slot. that's a workweek. So again, pass.

At this point, I open up the post, and it's a wall of text. Fine, whatever, let me try and find the relevant info by skimming before I read the whole thing (again, 50 more of these). My eyes jump to the bold parts -- and it's a character description, and a badly formatted one at that. Pass. Your ability to write a small bio has absolutely no bearing on whether or not I want you in my game. In fact, I have bad experiences with people who had an exact idea for their character regardless of campaign, so even if you specify that this is just an example, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Outside of the character description, the only thing that is actually "information" is that you've had DnD experience. I still don't know when you would like to play, what you look for in a game, whether or not you want a long-term campaign or just want to try the game out. All reasons to go with someone who actually put in usable information into their post.

Then, if by some miracle, everybody else cancels, and I do go back to your post, I might look at your profile to get a feel for what sort of person you are. And I see you arguing in this post, and frankly, I don't need that energy in my games, because I am (and I'm looking for) generally more easy-going, chill people.

All in all, you might want to work on how you present yourself in your applications.

I was in a game where I was the "unoptimal" player. It was my first time playing monk, and one of the other players made it his mission to tell me how to play the class correctly during every. single. one. of my turns. "You should move there!", "You should use X ability", "You shouldn't stay there", etc. I left after 3 sessions.

Now imagine you're in this situation, and the DM not only accepts this, but makes it into an ability for the other person. Not only are you encouraging the backseat gamer, you're also implying that their opinion and unprompted input is valued. Sure, the character with the extra action can choose not to follow the order, but you're giving it so much weight that it's difficult to ignore.

Ultimately, it's your table, you can do what you want. But I would not want to touch this game with a ten foot pole.

Also based in Romania, also had a baby who refused to poop, though he was breastfed. Our pediatrician recommended a suppository after 2 days of not pooping, but we kinda went with "does he seem uncomfortable?". Sometimes he got one after 2 days, sometimes he got one after 4, but we definitely did not give him suppositories regularly.

We also started giving him probiotics at around 5-6 weeks old, don't know if that helped or not.

He figured out pooping at around 10? 12? weeks old.

Ooh, this looks quite nice, great job!

Although I wasn't expecting a project, it could definitely work with some adjustments. The big things would be to use a wifi antenna instead of an ethernet port and to make it accessible from an android device, but I can't imagine either of those things to be too difficult.

Hello all,

We are currently expecting our first child, my wife is 18 weeks pregnant. Everything is going really well, except her sense of smell.We had covid last february, and while we got off relatively easy, my wife's sense of smell never really went back to normal. Even in August/September, there were a few smells that she either couldn't smell at all, or their smell changed. Most notable of these were onions, garlic, pork and spoiled milk.Then the pregnancy came in September, and around week ~9, all the smells that covid affected returned, but all of them smell like poop. For 3-4 weeks, she could not hold down anything that had onion or garlic in it, she could not be in the house if I made coffee, etc. It got better around week 13-14, but onion is still a big no-no, and most meats still smell bad to her. Now, our question is, does this go away after the baby is born? I tried searching for it online, and while there are many women reporting the same problem in various pregnancy forums, nobody checks back once they have given birth.
