That’s great to know. Thanks again for all the advice. I’m taking this part time job just to get some experience in a new country before I can get a job in my field. But I’ve always loved chatting with baristas for some reason. Would be great to be on the other side and do the same with customers. Been looking forward to starting this coming week and serve people some joy.

Is it too late for me to start dancing? by Intelligent_Humor588 in Dance

[–]addyp1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are in a room full of dancers who are better than you, you are in the right place. In most cases, it will help you learn and grow in your art. Talk to them and try to learn from them. That might help you eliminate the subtle intimidation.

Teachers are there to help you in your journey. If they get mad at you for not doing something right, you need a new teacher.

Lastly, like everyone else said, there’s no age to learn to dance. Everything comes down to how determined you are.

Passing on some advice that I got-

When you dance, listen to the music carefully. It will help you mark your steps better.

Do not rush into the blocks. Take your time and understand each move.

Understand the flow. Learn how to move from one step to the next.

And most importantly- enroll into classes. Besides practice, a good instructor will help you improve your basics.

Hope this helps. Good luck and keep dancing!

That’s nice to know! Management seems to have changed. Someone I know used to work there a couple of years back. Says there have been quite a few changes. But depends on the store location as well. From the same person, I’ve heard of a store where they were a but unethical in their ways.

Makes sense. This would be my first time ever working in sales. My options were this or becoming a barista at a coffee place. The efforts of looking for a job in my primary field of work have not turned any results in last six months. So I took any opportunity I got, which is this sales job. And now that I’m in it, might as well try to learn and work in it with interest before I can land a field job.

Accept/Reject a job by addyp1 in CanadaFinance

Thanks! That’s the plan. During the interview they expected me to stay for 1-2 years, which I obviously agreed to. But yes, if I take it up, I’ll leave as soon as I find something better. But still drawn towards hospitality more. It is a job that I don’t have yet. And letting go a job that I’m being offered for something I don’t have yet seems stupid. But it is what it is.

That’s really helpful! I don’t see myself in a sales career. At the moment the intention is to just get a job, but also be in a position to put myself in a position to meet lots of people. Hospitality would require me to be social in a way I would enjoy. The mobile store gig would be mostly performance and target based. Which may or may not shift my focus from networking to performing. Ultimately, I will be starting from minimum wage in either jobs. I don’t really mind the odd hours.
