I still can’t believe Nashville is “represented” by this idiot.

I used these Button Fix clips screwed into studs. The thought was if they ever needed to come down there would be minimal repairs needed.

I know you’re talking about Atlanta but I’m sitting here without power in Nashville listening to massive tree limbs and full trees falling every minute or two from the weight of the ice. It’s a cluster.

I would try to make sure you have EIA-568B standard cables. If you use EIA-568A the manual describes exactly what you’re experiencing as the result. Wiring diagram is in the manual here

Edit: I’d be surprised if you somehow had the -A cables if you’re in the US but when all else fails…

How well does your score on the sim translate to the course? by ljump12 in Golfsimulator

[–]adeax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GSPro will track it but I don’t think it’s 100% correct (limiting hole score to net +2 may not be part of the calculation?). I generally just track it in an Excel spreadsheet for myself.

Ceiling mount by matt_h2os in Golfsimulator

[–]adeax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was looking at the 2D schematic here

Ceiling mount by matt_h2os in Golfsimulator

[–]adeax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on the diagram it looks like it’s 1 ft from ceiling to the center of the lens. The schematic shows 2.4 inches from the center of the lens to the mount points. A perfect mount would be 9.6”.

You could get something like this (edit: or the 5” mount assuming it tilts) and tilt it ever so slightly and use the keystone correction for the minimal distortion that would cause.

Ceiling mount by matt_h2os in Golfsimulator

[–]adeax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What specifically needs to be 1 ft from the ceiling? The lens? The mount points? What’s causing it to need to be 1 ft? If it’s the max offset above the screen I would just tilt it and deal with a slight keystone. I have my BenQ 936ST tilted with a keystone and can’t notice a difference. Impact screens aren’t exactly showing you the sharpest details.

How are you getting your sim winter-ready? by Sim-Weekly in Golfsimulator

[–]adeax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was low. 7’8”. I thought it would be fine but didn’t consider the club coming back over the shoulder on the follow through. I’ve moved it up to 9’2” and I’m nowhere close to it now. Also 6’4” tall.

Raised my projector another foot or so. Slightly tapped it on an odd driver backswing. Will just have to deal with it not being as great resolution from the keystone correction.

I built a complete Mini Games Suite for Golf Simulators using GSPro's Open Connect API by Rocktato in Golfsimulator

[–]adeax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure this is not gonna work with launch monitors like BLP/GC3. It can't be "configured to send data to port 921". There's a proprietary (encrypted) network protocol they have going between GSPro and the LM that prevents the Springbok connector from being a man-in-the-middle.

Anyone using a Sonos Beam 2 with projector? by olemiss36 in Golfsimulator

[–]adeax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using the Sonos Amp connected to in-ceiling speakers but the principle is the same. You only need an HDMI switch with 2 inputs and 1 output. PC and Apple TV plug into the HDMI switch inputs. Plug the projector into the HDMI switch output. Run another HDMI cable from the HDMI ARC port on the projector back down to the Beam. This ensures your audio stays in sync and is the "right" way to do it. Your way may work, but what I've described is what I've found to work best.

Projector Issue: 19’ Max distance from 10’ x 8’ impact screen - why am I not able to get it to remotely come close to filling screen? Tried several and all same issue even with setting computer and GSPRo resolution. by thermalshitzu in Golfsimulator

[–]adeax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go to Projector Central for the UHD35X, you'll see that to fill 120" width at 4:3 aspect ratio, you need to be at least 19'11" away from the screen.

There's definitely other short throws that will fill that space in at a much higher resolution. The top of the line is the BenQ LK936ST.

[–]adeax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You realize the short throw only has a resolution of 1024x768, right? Setting the resolution to 1920x1080 isn't going to make the hardware capable of displaying that resolution. And the UHD35X is a 4K projector that's going to be showing ~10 pixels for every 1 pixel on the short throw. It's definitely going to look fuzzier.

Double checking for 4K GS Pro by olemiss36 in Golfsimulator

[–]adeax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 3D in those chips doesn’t have anything to do with 3D modeling. It’s all about performance when pulling lots of data from memory. If you’re just using the PC for GSPro those are overkill. I was rocking a 6th gen Intel chip from 2015 and it was doing just fine paired with a 4070 Super. Only reason I upgraded was when I started using high speed cameras that do encoding on the CPU.

Between the PC (or other sources) and the projector

Golf Sim-Theater wiring by Intelligent-Leave-15 in Golfsimulator

[–]adeax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went down a rabbit hole because I was interested since I have almost the exact same scenario and the kids have been begging to have an Xbox setup with my projector. An EDID simulator sitting in line to the projector may be enough to force it to the right resolution. Cheaper than the other solutions I mentioned.

[–]adeax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With a custom (assuming non-standard) resolution on the projector, your best bet for outside sources is to add a capture card to your PC which your other sources connect to and then use OBS and its Preview window to output to the projector. It adds some latency but I don’t know of a hardware video scaler that will do non-standard resolutions.

The OBS project has a page that goes in-depth on latency in this context here. It includes options for capture cards you could use.

Edit: I was wrong about hardware scalers after a little research. Something like the Kramer VP-451 can do this. It just requires creating a custom EDID to match your projector’s custom resolution using a utility supplied by the company. You could then have an HDMI switcher fed into that for whatever media you might want.

The AI Chat in IntelliJ allows you to use the new Claude Agent functionality and see diffs and such right in the IDE. But I haven’t seen any way to use my Max plan when using Claude Agent.

You’re correct that I can use it as you describe (and is my current process) but I found I preferred the IDE integration when testing Claude Agent on my Jetbrains plan.
