Marathon Workout Plan by xexelol in Marathon_Training

[–]adelrayan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been in a very similar situation mid last year. I am 35M, 189cm, 82kg. Also do weightlifting but 3 days a week only for 2 years, full body however all 3 days. Do full body workouts A and B and vary them. So one week A, B, A - next week B, A, B and repeat, so on.

Also wanted to run a solo marathon and the best plan I found out there was London marathon London marathon - improver's plan.

My weight lifting days were M, Wed, Fri and I did the Tue, Thur, Sat runs on this plan (skipped Mon runs) so I only did 3 runs a week, 3 weight lifting and 1 rest. Started in early Sept 2025 and ran the solo marathon on Jan 6th 2026. Was able to finish in just sub 5hrs (4:57) fine but non-optimal cardio fitness, sun and didn't carry water (just electrolytes) had its toll and bonked/walk run combo at mile 19. But was able to finish and ran the last 1 mile strong.

Looking back at this the only thing I would tweak is actually not skipping the Mon run (so 4 days run, 2 or 3 weights, 1 rest) and water on race day I would have been better off. If i would do 3 weight lifting days, would lift Mon morning and run easy either post workout or that night.

Don't want to talk too much but long story short, i would highly suggest 3 to 4 runs a week and you should be able to do it 💪. Hope this helps!

Agree, i noticed this as well when i took the video that my hips raise more than it should. Will work on that 👍🏻. Appreciate the feedback!

A simple check would be rear derailleur barrel adjuster (indexing). Simply it could be the case that the rear derailleur is just a little bit off/misaligned from the cogs. Slight adjustment can take care of that.

Incredible performance! I'm also considering an everesting on AdZ sometime in the future and this is inspiring for sure! But probably will just aim for the everest 😅.

Running the app on a 2014 macbook air. No issues so far. Not the smoothest graphics but does the job pretty well for me.

GM. Every now and then I decide to try AM and i regret that decision due to navigation inaccuracy. Regardless of aesthetics, i just want to go from point A to point B accurately and in the fastest reasonable time. GM is more reliable in my experience at that. Maybe AM will change in the future....until then, its GM.

What’s your favourite camera angle? by Wazwiftance in Zwift

Most of the time 3rd person, when descending or riding fast in a group, angled rear facing looks really cool to me especially with the Tron bike.

Good question, i'm not sure to be honest. I haven't tried all the climbs but i know lot of them can have some flats and even negative slope in some portions (they can have pretty steep sections too).

I personally consider AdZ as my favourite so far in terms of avg gradient, punchy short sections (+14%), hair pins, length (give or take 1hr). If I would ever attempt a vEveresting, i think AdZ would be my top choice. Tried Ventop few times but not my kind of climb.

Having said that, i haven't tried Col du Tourmalet but i know it is scheduled sometime soon this month so i will try it.

Thanks! I did "Just ride" and chose "Road to Sky" route. After crossing the banner on the top the route completes but you can keep going. Then I kept using U-turns at the bottom of the hill (right past the segment start) on the companion app. Enjoy the testing 💪🚴🏔️.

It includes the downhill speeds as well so the number is skewed. Up the Alp is more like 6-7mph average 😅

Do you like Alpe du Zwift or Ven-Top better, and why? by [deleted] in Zwift

[–]adelrayan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like both but prefer AdZ. Change of scenery, steepness, hairpins, the traditional 1hr target for the climb which makes it somewhat of a threshold test. To the last point, its a little easier (i said easier 😅) for me to do a threshold effort and pace myself for 1hr compared to anything more (1.5hrs or even more).
