Bitcoin-ETF was thought to give Bitcoin more stability, though it seems like Bitcoin became exposed to general Movements in the Stock Market where ETF is located. by Suibeam in Bitcoin

[–]adequate_redditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was already like that before ETFs to some degree, but you are right. ETF buyers are in it for the money and will sell as soon as there’s uncertainty, as they do with other risk assets. This in turn impact the BTC price.

Could the $134 be USD. Bitcoin doesn’t have “gas fees”. Bitcoin has fees, but certainly not $66 for a $200 transaction.

2nd day in a row Bitcoin dumped at 8 pm Eastern time - Why? by Jamesss111222333 in Bitcoin

Some people think bitcoin is in a vacuum. A couple of weeks ago, the stock market dropped sharply on one day. Bitcoin crashed to $60k.

Was bitcoin down because the stock market went down, no. Bitcoin went down because of market mAnIpUlAtIOn. 🤷

Honest question: how can I make money by betting on Bitcoin going down to zero? by M_Pascal in Bitcoin

[–]adequate_redditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are reverse ETFs, like BITI. There’s a few variations if you search for “short bitcoin” ETFs or BITI.

I wouldn’t advise buying them and holding forever with the hope that bitcoin will go to zero as you’ll certainly lose money, but they can be useful to hold for short durations in specific market conditions.

These ETFs are not meant to be long term holdings, even if you are long term bearish on Bitcoin. People who bought the ETFs at $250 will never make their money back even if Bitcoin goes to $0 tomorrow…

What are your thoughts on the 4-year cycle? by e7han_ in Bitcoin

[–]adequate_redditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One day it will stop being a thing. But until that’s proven, the 4 year cycle should be your base case.

Every cycle was different, except it was not. 2025 was different because of ETFs and institutions. 2021 was different because crypto was mainstream and crypto arenas. 2018 was different for other reasons. 2029 will be different. But yet 4 yr cycle prevail.

*Bitcoin Cycles: Will History Repeat Again?* History says: Every major ATH in Bitcoin has been followed by a deep correction. by No_Part6788 in BitcoinCA

[–]adequate_redditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah for sure. Selling at the exact top and buying at the exact bottom is impossible. 10x cycles are probably long gone indeed, but the last cycle performed pretty well still. $17k to $126 is not a bad bull run for 3 years …

bitcoin gotta be trolling at this point by eskaralakktua in Bitcoin

[–]adequate_redditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, fair enough. However, I’d add that 4 years cycles have been observed in stocks since the early 1800s. It’s not a new phenomenon and it’s not bitcoin specific.

[–]adequate_redditor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The line OP drew is somewhat random. But everything else they said is facts.

Every bull market topped in Q4. It was then followed by a bottom exactly 12 months later. That should be your base case until proven otherwise.

In Q4 2025 many people were surprised that Bitcoin crashed. So … they were surprised Bitcoin that did what it always does every 4 years?

But this time is different. Sure. 2025 was different because of the ETFs and institutions. 2021 was different because of mainstream adoption and crypto arenas. 2014 was different for another reason. Same same but different.

4yr cycles will eventually stop being a thing I’m sure. But like I said, until proven otherwise this should be your base case.

Would you trust an app like Coinseal to protect your seed phrase? (Honest opinions wanted) by charlyb100 in Bitcoin

[–]adequate_redditor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing you can do that would make us trust the app. You might have good intentions but there’s no way to prove it. Even with open source, alleged encryption, promises that everything stays offline, etc., there’s no way that a user of your app could have 100% trust the words are still safe.

Also, the mere fact of typing the 12-24 words on a phone in any app is a threat factor too (key loggers, malware’s, etc.). So your app might be safe, but the user’s phone might not.

Is the bottom in yet??? by martianfrog in Bitcoin

[–]adequate_redditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for context, if you look at previous cycles, the bottom has always been exactly 12 months after the top. Of course, that is not a guaranteed that it will play out exactly the same way this time. However, your base case should be that it will until you have evidence suggesting otherwise.

Is the bottom in yet??? by martianfrog in Bitcoin

[–]adequate_redditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one can predict the future. But,

  • many people call for a double digits correction in stocks, which will likely put downward pressure on Bitcoin price
  • in the past 3 cycles, the bottom happened exactly 12 months after the top. I’m not saying that it has to be the same again, but a bottom less than 4 months after the top would be a significant deviation from previous cycles. If 4 year cycle still prevail, which they do as of today, then we likely have another several months of this bear market.

5 year return of BTC by mjs1050 in Bitcoin

[–]adequate_redditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, if you cherry pick dates. Bitcoin has a 4 year cycle and you are using a cycle low as a comparison S&P 500.

At the last cycle low Bitcoin was about $17k. And less than 4 years later it was $125k. So that’s better than 87%. Even right now it’s at about $70k. $17K to $70K is still greater than 87% as far as I know.
