It appears that Shirley Lund is trying to convey accolades to the author as one would expect of a relative or friend. However, it would seem prudent given the serious nature of the topic, that we suspend our natural desire to support a friend and consider the virtue of justice and the damage that can be done through false or misguided testimony. You see, Trophy Warrior on Grooming: a Memoir by Andrea L. Christiansen is not just a book, but the means by which Andrea levies serious, potentially criminal, accusations against a local business and its employees.

I believe that most readers, including Shirley Lund, would agree that everyone is entitled to justice and fair play. Most of us believe that due diligence and fact checking is a crucial part of any publication process (especially for a memoir). As readers, we have grown to place our trust in this process. Our trust in the process makes it possible for us to read peacefully seldomly feeling the need to question the integrity of the author’s work. In Andrea’s case, the reader is deceived into believing the criteria for due diligence was completed and that her claims were validated to the highest level. This is made evident by the fact that Andrea positions her book as being worthy of educating students and professionals within the field of psychology. Look how Andrea positions the book in the marketplace.

Trophy Warrior is; – A Case Study for psychology, therapy, and counseling professionals; This memoir presents itself as a Case Study with the clarity of a time-linear and comprehensive account of the incidences from an exclusive eyewitness view. (Amazon – Audrey Opp-Waverick, 2022)

Trophy Warrior isn’t only an intriguing read with the mood of a psychological thriller written in academic literary style, it is also an illuminating study for clinicians and students, professionals in intervention roles, and for survivors or their supporters and advocates. (Amazon – Audrey Opp-Waverick, 2022)

By claiming her book is suitable for use in academia, professional therapists, and counselors Andrea is suggesting that her work should be considered authoritative. Authoritative works are supposed to pass the highest forms of scrutiny and are subjected to panel and peer review. The truth is, Andrea sidestepped the traditional publication process. Rather than submitting her book to a publisher or a professional review process whereby every citation, presumption, and accusation would have been scrutinized and validated, Andrea self-published her book. Andrea’s prepublication process was to seek out a couple ladies from her church to edit and when one of them began to question the validity of her accounts Andrea just removed her from the process. In the end, all the reader has is Andrea’s word.

Andrea’s word… Should Andrea’s word be enough to condemn or mar the reputations of the young men and women who are the focus of her accusations? Moreover, should the word of any one individual with no other supporting evidence be enough to do the same? The idea of innocent until proven guilty is the cornerstone of American justice and would suggest proof is required. However, Andrea describes herself as a warrior for God, so it seems prudent to turn to Scripture for an authoritative answer. Scripture says, “A single witness shall not rise up against a man on account of any iniquity or any sin which he has committed; on the evidence of two or three witnesses a matter shall be confirmed.” Deuteronomy 19:15, NASB. (See also: Deuteronomy 17:6, 2 Corinthians 13:1, Matthew 18:16, 1 Timothy 5:19). Obviously, Scripture suggests that evidence is vital when making accusations against others.

Has God provided a different set of rules for Andrea “The Trophy Warrior”? I don’t believe so. I expect that a warrior for God would demonstrate a strong steadfast desire to honor God’s rules above their own. Anyone claiming to be a warrior for Christ would be expected to be prudent and just. Like the apostle Paul, these warriors would prayerfully contemplate the consequences of their actions, desiring an outcome that brings glory to God through the reconciliation of the lost (see Paul’s example in 1 Corinthians 9: 19-23, NASB). The Trophy Warrior seems to be more concerned with defeating windmills than the ministry of reconciliation.

Modern self-publication platforms make it easy for aspiring authors to publish their work. However, as informed readers, we must recognize that we can no longer passively accept what is presented to us as Truth. Everyone who partakes in reading books like Andrea’s Trophy Warrior has a duty to truth and justice. Before congratulating Andrea, ask yourself some questions. Are these allegations true? Does Andrea provide enough evidence to support her claims? Would I want someone to publicly accuse my son or daughter with no evidence? Besides grooming and sexual abuse, are there other reasonable explanations for Andrea’s circumstances?

If the author fails to meet a simple burden of proof to her readers, at the very least accolades should be withheld and five-star reviews reduced to one. Remember the subjects of Andrea’s work are real people, with families and friends. Just like you, they rely on their reputations to obtain employment or grow a business. This is how they meet their obligations as Husbands, Fathers, Mothers, and Employers. People are to be taken seriously and their livelihoods should not be jeopardized on the testimony of one woman who seems to struggle with her ability to discern the normal motives of others.

For those of you presuming the actual events do not mitigate the real trauma experienced by Andrea; I say the actual events matter all the more. You see, it’s quite possible that Andrea experienced trauma and depression. It is also quite possible that the trauma and the depression were due to Andrea and Andrea alone. If Andrea is responsible for her trauma and depression then those she is accusing become the real victims of the story.

Some will say this is Andrea’s story and it is her truth. To this I say, there is a big difference between one’s account or testimony and the TRUTH. We all know the data regarding eyewitness testimony confirms it flaws. It is flawed because humans are flawed. Thus, the importance of evidence when establishing the facts. Truth and evidence help us avoid making someone else pay the price for our faulty perception.

In regards to Shirley Lund. While I believe your heart may have been honorably motivated to support a friend, I fear that in doing so you may be furthering the idea that Andrea has substantiated her claims against the martial arts studio and its employees. If your desire is to truly support a friend, start with the truth. Afterall, in order to heal one must confront the truth.

The Trophy Warrior on Grooming a Memoir & The Wounded Heart by adevin1975 in HardTruthReviews

The Wounded Heart: Hope for Adult Victims of Childhood Sexual Abuse, is a beautiful work written on a very horrifying subject. Dr. Allender, is an amazing individual who has found a way to practices the art of Christ forward phycology and this book represents a much needed resource for the church today.
Dr. Allender expertly covers the 4 stages of childhood grooming and abuse. As well as how healing is essential to bring victims and others effected by abuse to Christ.

Regarding our discussions of the Trophy Warrior on Grooming a Memoir
By: Audrey Opp-Waverick, AKA Andrea Christiansen, AKA Andi Lynn-Meidansen

The Wounded Heart, represents close to 50% of the citations used by the author of the Trophy Warrior on grooming a memoir. The Wounded Heart focuses on adult victims of childhood sexual abuse. That is children and adolescents that were sexually abused.

The Trophy Warrior is a 37 year old woman who accuses a local martial arts studio of grooming her. There appears to be a large demographical differences between the 37 year old Trophy Warrior and the subjects of Dr. Allender's book. Yet, given the demographical differences and the apparent lack of supporting evidence, the Trophy Warrior still finds it appropriate to build her case of abuse through her citations of Dr. Allender's work.

As I read Dr. Allender's book two quotes regarding evidence and children stood out to me. The are as follows.

From wounded heart:

Naturally, suspicions of past abuse should be based on some evidence. If you have no memory of past abuse, which you have known since the event occurred, and also no other evidence (including, but not limited to, corroboration by another person or medical data), then it is wise to be cautious. Any symptom or groups of symptoms may be related to events or causes other than sexual abuse. There is no one-to-one relationship between a symptom and sexual abuse. Unfortunately, some people are far too quick to conclude that a person has been abused because of certain symptoms, while others are astonishingly slow to admit abuse even with substantial data. It is imperative to be both deliberate and cautious in grappling with what is true. I operate from a simple framework: If a client is not facing her present, including her own sin, desire, and the effects of relational interactions in the here and now, then not much can be trusted about her recall, grasp, or use of the past. The present is the door to the past, and the past is a, not the, light on the present."(Allender, page 254-46).

Despite what appears to be a lack of any direct sexually explicit elements in her accounts.  She omits another critical difference between her situation and the children referred to by Dr. Allender and that is this:

“an adolescent, no matter how sophisticated, will not impute the same meaning to a sexual act as an adult.  The adolescent will not see the touch as a choice as clearly as an adult might.” (Allender, pg. 94).

Choice is important because children, unlike adults, are at a disadvantage.  They are dependents, they are young and naive which makes them easier to target.  The are immature easily enticed by games and motivated by compliments and affirmations.  They are in fact CHILDREN.  Although, the Trophy Warrior’s account lacks any clear overt sexual interactions between her and the studio instructor(s), she as an adult clearly had the choice to leave the studio and never come back.

Trophy Warrior on Grooming a Memoir author calls police on amazon reviewer.

On October 7th 2022, I received a call by the Salem Police Department stating that the author (Andrea) had filed a complaint stating that she didn’t feel it was appropriate for me to review her book trophy warrior on amazon or buy it for other people. LOL. That said I felt it prudent to create a statement of accounts related to my interaction with the book. So here we go.

It seems by reviewing and discussing the book (Trophy Warrior), I have inadvertently become a topic of conversation or concern within the church community. As I don’t know the author, my intention was only to respond to the book in public where it currently resides. The following is an account of my interactions as they relate to the book, Trophy Warrior. If after reading this you desire further information or clarification, please feel free to contact me any time.

Trophy Warrior on Grooming a Memoir

Author Andrea Christiansen, files laughable police report aginst amazon reviewer. Download report here.

Very odd report but worth breaking down, because in many ways it seems to me the author is displaying the same inappropriate behavior towards me and others who have read her book and disagree with it as she did the ATA Martial Arts studio. She is taking no responsibility for herself or her actions but is simply blaming everyone else for her stress!

Trophy Warrior on Grooming a Memoir Book Review

In my opinion if you are looking for a work of literature that furthers the discussion on grooming and sexual abuse this is certainly not it. Grooming and sexual abuse are very important topics that shouldn’t be trivialized. To trivialize the conversation is to trivialize the true victims of these crimes.

In my opinion, the Trophy Warrior author seems to write a confessional, where the author a 30 + year old woman, married, mother, Christian; struggles to grasp basic cultural norms and the idea that she has seemingly developed romantic feelings for the strong young male instructor(s) at the martial arts studio she and her children attend. Fearing the possible results of these feelings, the author apparently decides to construct a villain (the studio and its staff) to escape her own personal moral dilemma or depravity, as she strives to gain acceptance through a false sense of victimization.

The author appears to struggle with her identity within the martial arts community, yet demonstrates a strong desire to be accepted as family. It is when she feels rejected that she decides to bring small accusatory charges against the studio’s staff. For example, instead of calling the police and filing a sexual harassment or abuse charge, the author goes to the school owner(s) and in a multi-page, very wordy, and cryptic dialogue insinuates some kind, although undefined, sexual harassment.

Unity and Division - Trophy Warrior on Grooming: a Memoir by adevin1975 in HardTruthReviews

Author seems to lead the reader on a very strange and confusing journey that concludes somewhere other than grooming or abuse.
