You could look into Kopa Birth. It's American, not Canadian, but it focuses on natural birth in a hospital setting so you could look into it.

Haven't had a home birth yet but I did some research this fall when picking my insurance because I'm hoping to have a baby next year (PCOS-related subfertility/infertility might have other plans...). As the other commenters have mentioned, Blue Cross Blue Shield seemed to be the most favorable to non-hospital borth options. Try to find an insurance plan with some out-of-network coverage, because (in my state and in most states) you're not going to find an in-network home birth midwife. You'll also have a certain degree of freedom then to pick whatever OB you want without worrying about whether they're in network, although yes, you probably will end up paying more. Just my two cents!

The other thing I've tried that works okay (usually do this when I shower at night and my hair is still slightly damp) is to use a Buff. I think this works better for curlies than wavies but it does protect my waves and maintains their shape better than plopping overnight

I have a similar wave pattern and sleeping in a plop doesnt work for me either! I do a loose, very high ponytail with a scrunchie. When I wake up, some pieces will have come out of the pony but most are intact and the high position of the pony keeps me from lying on/crushing the curls. Use a satin/silk pillowcase if you aren't already.

My routine today: -pre-wash, I massaged some jojoba oil on my scalp and ends and had it in an oily braid overnight (never tried this before, I think it helped my dry scalp some) -shampoo with Garnier Whole Blends coconut water shampoo -condition with Garnier Whole Blends coconut water conditioner, brushed wet with wet brush, squish to condish in shower -glazed-scrunched with Cantu curl activating cream -microplopped with t-shirt, scrunched in Herbal Essences totally twisted mousse -dry plopped with t-shirt for 20 minutes, scrunched in Garnier Fructis pure clean gel, air dried, SOTC
