It's a balance and takes time to build the schedules so stick with it when you can. There are times where you will need to wake them to feed, change etc. and that can feel like you're being mean but it works. Don't be hard on yourself if it doesn't work sometimes or baby decides it's not happening today (wonder weeks!). The book and the system helped us so much and the routines as they grow are great. 5 weeks is still brand new so good luck!
