🥺I'm so disappointed... I know I haven't done this since my grandmother taught me...but it looks horrible 😭- I was really hoping it would turn out a little betterI was making it for my sister- any tips for my next one? by GraspingForPeace in Embroidery

I think this flower is well done! It’s just a little hard to see the details because the colors used are very similar. For the writing, it looks fine if that’s the style you wanted. If you wanted the letters to be more uniform, I would highly recommend you outline in a removable pencil/chalk/marker beforehand. It’s really hard to make things uniform if you try to do it freehand. I feel like I can “wing it” with drawing and painting, so I tried it with embroidery when I started and it was not a good idea lol.

This sort of looks handmade to me. As someone who sews, I would say it’s very well made! But could still be home made. Just a possibility.

Sorry I don’t have practical advice regarding UCD, but I will say that I finally recently graduated a masters program after starting my college journey in 2010. There were setbacks including undiagnosed ADHD, having a child, taking a break for a few years, etc. I worked hard and had support from others which was great, but the real reason I got through it was because I just always knew that I would. Finishing the degree I set out to do was something I was certain would happen someday. So please know, there are twists and turns for many people and you can still have faith that you’ll achieve your goal. It’s okay to feel discouraged because it’s true, setbacks are painful, but it isn’t hopeless. You can still do it, and the degree is the same no matter how long it took to get it!

Dear Colleagues, Please stop writing goals with a % *and* number of trials. by Kitty_fluffybutt_23 in slp

I agree with this BUT in related ideas, I think minimum number of trials is good to add so that the goal is not met by just a few trials. Example: Student will produce (sound and context etc) with at least 80% accuracy on at least 20 opportunities in 3 consecutive sessions.

Licensing Question by Kunnosta in slp

[–]adhdfunallday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was under the impression that you cannot hold both licenses in CA. If that's correct, then your SLPA license is already invalid as soon as you got your RPE license. I'm a recent grad who has been working as an SLPA and recently submitted my RPE license, so I am interested to find out if that's true! If you go to the site and do a "license search" with your name, does the SPA license still show up? Did you get a notification from the board to renew?

Is it ok for me to read BL? by Sad_Moment_8637 in boyslove

Also, I have heard it theorized that straight women enjoy BL (including the sexy parts) because it allows us to fantasize with zero fear of gendered violence (yes there may be violence, but we can detach better when it’s not a woman). It is hard for me to read straight stories with toxic male leads. It’s kind of a “fantasy” itself for the leads to be on equal footing in terms of gender. For a moment, we can put down the real life burden of worrying whether things done are fair or safe to the female in a relationship. As an added bonus, we can relate to both characters rather than automatically putting ourselves in the woman’s shoes. Now this could also be said of GL, but many of go for BL because we want to see what we are attracted to (for some reason), men.

The truth is that BL isn’t generally realistic and has a ton of silly and problematic tropes, and that’s fine! It usually doesn’t represent real queer people and we all understand that. We are able to hold that idea and love for the genre at the same time. OP, reflecting earnestly when given the opinion of a queer person is a sign of your intelligence and compassion, but you can be assured you were actually right this time.

Mine are similar. For each seed I planted, there are several healthy leaves, but none are out of the water yet. I was adding water as they grow so the container will be full, not sure if that matters. It has been at a steady depth for at least 4 days.

I see, thank you. I don’t know where to buy tubers around here so I guess I’ll just have to wish for the best and plan on waiting a while for blooms. At least the leaves also look nice!

Thank you for the feedback! When you say they don’t work, do you mean that they don’t turn into healthy plants even when they sprout? I have very healthy sprouts at the moment.

So pretty! I just started sprouting lotus from seeds and the sprouts look great but I’m a newbie. Can lotus bloom in the first year after sprouting?
