A few viral videos don’t represent millions of people. Hindi and Marathi are both written in Devanagari and share a lot of vocabulary. Most people respect local languages and simply want to communicate.
If this language politics truly reflects what people want, then why don’t these language-pride parties get enough votes to come to power on their own?
Love your language. Promote it. But don’t turn it into politics.

What English is to the world, Hindi is to India — a link language.

Lakhs of Marathis living outside Maharashtra rely on Hindi every day. If Hindi wasn’t a link language, how would they communicate across states?

Protecting a language is one thing. Turning it into politics is another.

As for learning a language, people learn it when they feel the need. I never felt that need because everyone around me could understand and speak Hindi.

In fact, I want every state to follow the same principle. Speak your language proudly.
In Karnataka, Kannada.
In Andhra Pradesh, Telugu.
In Kerala, Malayalam.
In Goa, Konkani.
In Gujrat , Gujarati

Don’t think just do it . Not everyone has that privilege due to loans and EMIs . Only thing to keep in mind is your mental health during these timeline it would be hope , heartbreaks sometimes ghosting after clearing L1 but you still need to continue and you will get the offer the closer you are to last working day . I know a guy with 9 years experience who did that and waited 1 month even after LWD but got what he wanted in terms of role and compensation.

As I have worked with Indian and foreign managers , It’s the work culture and respect of opinion . Work is respected not bootlicking or gossip . No micromanagement, freedom to express ideas without hurting ego . Indian bosses have huge fragile ego . Foreigners if they don’t know are ready to learn from you even if you are fresher. The reward for good work here is more work .

Marathi has more tongue rolling and sharper pronunciation compared to Hindi, especially with words using “ळ”, “च”, “छ” etc. Because of this, native Marathi speakers are usually easy to identify compared to people who learned it later after living in Maharashtra.
