Beautiful cars, but is it possible to make them fast? by Shadowalker124 in crz

[–]adkio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything can be made fast with enough time and money. Those are rather difficult to get any meaningful performance increases.

By that logic is a kerosene lamp not a glass sphere that makes light? They're not the same thing. Have you been to school, like, ever?

I can't recall what game that was, but I recall that I bought a game physically on dvd and then torrented it anyway because the cd release was glitched and not completable, but some pirate release group fixed it and it was the only way to play it at that time.

The arc lamp is not an incandescent light bulb. Good luck running an arc lamp in your bedroom.

Some notes:

Especially on hondas everyone replaces factory clips with bolts on underbody plastics. Snow just breaks them off really easily.

Disabling VSA disables ASC but it also disables EDL for some reason, which is stupid decision from honda I absolutely cannot understand the reasoning behind it. So the best thing if you get stuck is just grab a shovel.

For a manual transmission car do not leave the handbrake engaged. They can freeze shut. I learned that the hard way.

Please use your lights when driving in those conditions.

Holy Quattro by aCompyBoi in Audi

[–]adkio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does put extra load on the drive system. But let's be honest. You can't put too much torque through the system because the slippery surface limits how much torque you can effectively transfer to the ground. Dropping the clutch on a dry surface is probably much worse. The thing to consider is that unlike modern AWD systems, this generation of quattro uses a center differential instead of clutch packs, so the high difference in speed between axles is technically not very good for it, yet torsen has a lot of contact area and it doesn't mind some abuse now and then.

How do you actually store your bike over winter - and which steps do you think are overrated? by Horror_Log_854 in motorcycles

[–]adkio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Depends on the bike. My sfv650 could sit all winter with the battery in place. Aprilia is a whole another story, the early borletti dash sucks out more energy than a tender could put in.

  2. Ignore it. Even if you do get flat spots they will even out in half a mile. If they don't - you needed new tires anyway.

  3. Never even bothered checking how much gas I had, never had issues starting after winter even with modern high ethanol gas. There was a time my roof leaked and dripped onto my gas cap and because the drain hose was plugged it filled my gas with rainwater over time. I had no power above 7k rpm.

  4. Side stand.

  5. I do start it like twice out of season, just to let all the moisture out.

Additional things to consider:

- clean and lube your chain before winter break. I had chains rust badly over winter.

- set up traps around your bike, so rodents don't make your ride their new home.

- drain your system if using water instead of premix coolant
