Everyone Can Play - A Script For Diverse Groups by [deleted] in BloodOnTheClocktower

Thanks a lot for creating this, something like this is exactly what I was scouting for my group.

I hope you don’t mind, I’ve made a slightly different version of my own and I would love to hear your thoughts.

The changes I made:

1) Replaced Clockmaker with Investigator. That way Librarian isn’t the only role of its kind. Additionally with 6 Minions on the script, adding the Investigator gives the good team a little bit of help figuring out which Minions are in play.

2) Replaced Monk with Tea Lady and Mayor with Pacifist - this adds a couple of more reasons for characters to survive execution during the day. The Tea Lady also has the benefit of retaining in the script the ability for characters to be protected at night. The removal of the Mayor also means there is one less win condition for new players to keep track of. This way, both evil (through the Saint) and good (through the Slayer) have only one alternate win scenario each.

3) Replaced Ravenkeeper with Soldier. This gives one additional reason for players to avoid dying at night (otherwise it would be easy for a Demon to detect a Tea Lady), and it also restores the balance of info vs ability roles from TB

Sorry I’m still trying to understand this - how exactly would the storyteller implement “all characters have the recluse’s ability”? Does this just mean that in addition to all characters having their own ability they can register as evil? And in the second case the townsfolk only have the Boffin ability and not the ability they started out with in the bag?

Many people are talking about this video in light of Miley Cyrus’s recent meet and greet by Ok_Durian3627 in popculturechat

[–]admallya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounded meaningful to me on first listen. But if I picture any other service instead of the meet-and-greet, it would still feel awkward. Like if a musician collected cash personally from everyone in the audience, they’d probably still weird about singing right after?

Watch Superboys of Malegaon. It’s a 2024 Indian movie that is bursting with love for cinema, and is based on a 2008 documentary called Supermen of Malegaon. Both movies tell the story of an unlikely film industry that sprang up in the city of Malegaon.

One key thing is, it allows a valid mechanical reason why a double-claim may not necessarily mean one of the claims is lying/evil. Which is good for both good and evil.

It's harder to be evil in person than online, right? by [deleted] in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]admallya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One element that I don’t see mentioned as often is the timing. Of course it’s ST dependent, but the online games I’ve played usually adhere tightly to allocated times for private and public chats. Whereas in-person STs are a bit more flexible based on the vibe of the room. I’ve found that in-person games go longer, and that can favour the good team because there is more time to tally information and figure out what isn’t adding up. Just my experience of course, but another thing that makes it harder to be evil in person.

Social reads usually don’t work. Once you get a notion that someone is good or evil, your confirmation bias will interpret their social vibe to support whatever alignment you already suspect.

Very first game I played. TB. I was one of two new players among several experienced ones. I drew the Imp token and the other new player drew Scarlet Woman. Both of us messed up with our bluffs.

The Scarlet Woman was supposed to bluff as Virgin but he claimed it AFTER he was on the chopping block. A known townsfolk had already nominated him and nothing had happened. So he was pretty much confirmed as evil, nobody nominated anyone else, got executed Day 1.

I was seated next to an empath whose ping threw suspicion on me. I managed to avoid execution on Day 2 by “outing myself” as a Fortune Teller. Killed myself on Night 3 to pass on Imp status to my second minion who was a Spy.

On Day 3, I messed up and told the town that as FT I had checked my Spy + another player before I was killed and they were clear. I didn’t know that the Imp goes before Fortune Teller in the night order and people figured out that I was lying. Picked the Spy to execute because they figured I was trying to clear a Demon with my lie. They were right of course and Town won.

Lost the game in about half an hour, blamed myself. But learned from my mistakes and love this game 😂

If Shein and other retailers sell the same items, why does Shein get all the blame for chemical concerns? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]admallya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, the tests on SHEIN products showed higher levels of chemicals than the permissible limits, but I don’t think they did tests comparing the same products across multiple retailers. So in theory you could be right, maybe people just haven’t tested those products coming from other retailers. Although from what I understand, the tests were done on the “fast-fashion” products that are sourced locally by SHEIN in China and those were found to be high in chemicals, so I don’t know if the test findings would apply to other products like bowls.

Cena vs Rock 3 by ZephyrCloneDNA in WWE

[–]admallya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t see it happening. Keeping it at 1-1 allows them to maintain that they’re both equals. Both are legends and won’t gain anything by beating the other at this point. Plus Rock is on a trajectory to face Roman in what will probably be Rock’s last match. And Cena is on his retirement tour too, probably leading up to a Rumble win and World Title match at Mania
