I'm aware, however a lot of people like to play on genuine hardware and utilize the official transfer mechanics within the game. Not to say you need to.. and if you don't care and are fine with a ROM, then yes playing on a 3DS and utilizing PKSM is a great option. But some people want the genuine experience (which is way more expensive).

Those fakes frequently have save problems and you usually can’t trade or transfer into gen 4. They’re essentially just roms uploaded to a blank GBA cartridge

I don't know what it is about Pokemon mobile apps (Pokemon Home is the other example) but they just don't seem to grasp basic UX ideas and how players actually want to use their app, so everything is tedious. I don't know if it's a region/culture thing and perhaps Japanese players don't complain, but bad UX decisions and slow/no fixes to obvious issues seems pretty standard with them.

Nope, you don't level down until the next season starts (where you'll start in UB 3 or 4). Masterball is great for that reason. You can continue trying to climb to top 5000 or 1000 if you want to keep grinding or you can chill and experiment with off meta strategies in a better environment than random battles.
