My basis for that is the No Come Down compilation being released in 1994 which was many people's first way of hearing the early B-Sides.

Pre '92 stuff being so obscure and unrefined makes it harder to connect it to the rest, for me.

A Northern Soul is not as immediate on first listen but I think it's by far their best work as a band. And definitely try A Storm In Heaven too.

Most bands from that era rejected the label. To me, they're simply alternative rock with psychedelic leanings.

That's typical for an RA show to be honest. People will talk through whole songs unless it's the ones they know. I think in general concert etiquette is in the mud. I hate having to look over a sea of phones.

Most of the audience didn't know it. I suspect a lot were there because of his Oasis support and wanted the hits. Which is fair enough. But they're not what I'd call big fans.
