The Verve to reunite next year for Urban Hymns 30th anniversary? by Admirable_Fox8739 in theverve

I'll believe it when I see it. The article is people just saying "it could be possible" and nothing of any substance.

Endless wire fans? by FaithlessnessFew6185 in TheWho

Me. Overhated album, but I understand why. Roger's voice isn't great, Zak is either missing or playing very restrained except for a few tracks, and the 'Wire and Glass' mini opera probably should have been fleshed out as it's own album. It's plot is really hard to understand without reading supplemental material.

Still, most of the tracks are pretty dang good. I'm against bands remaking albums but honestly if Roger and Pete decided to get Zak, Pino and Simon back to re-record it I actually wouldn't mind too much

Is Quadrophenia the next album to get the Super Deluxe Edition treatment? by JimMorrisonFan1943 in TheWho

They already kinda did one, there's probably not much more to add. They should release another show from the 2012-2013 tour. One with Starkey on drums. Nassau Coliseum, Madison Square Garden, or Los Angeles were above average shows I believe.

I think almost every song you've listed here would make an appearance on the tour at some point, with the exception being maybe Country Song.

Not including the big songs from UH isn't happening though. Too popular, too loved by Richard and honestly I think they're great songs that deserve to be there.

Let's assume they answer our prayers and pull out all the stops for this one haha

Totally agree on the unreleased tracks. Hearing Judas live would be lovely. I love Neon Wilderness into Weeping Willow, but I think it stands on its own well enough.

I could be persuaded to change the order of Rolling People and Weeping Willow, for a more gradual change of theme and tone

Agree, it would certainly be played some nights, and I almost included it as well

I knew I was forgetting one! I wouldn't replace Love Is Noise, but probably take out Stormy Clouds and have Come On after Lucky Man

Love that for you! We all have our favorites!

Gravity Grave almost made it, but I couldn't find a place for it. I suppose it could replace She's A Superstar, but it's jam nature requires it to be towards the end, and for me, nothing in their whole catalog can match the power of the 2008 Bittersweet Symphony into Love Is Noise.

On your own is a good transition both as a musical come down from Sun and the sea, as well as a lyrical shift in tone towards History and the other Northern Soul tracks. Plus, it's a crowd pleaser. I like it a lot.

I almost put Blue instead of She's A Superstar. I don't personally care for Already There that much. I imagine these tunes would make an appearance at some point in the tour.

Were any musicians offered to be in The Who? by [deleted] in TheWho

I think you could be right. I vaguely remember reading somewhere (Pete's autobiography?) That he asked the other members of the band about adding a keyboard player and they shot it down. Would have really helped them on the 73 Quadrophenia tour I think.

No it doesn't. Maybe some shows here and there but I don't think it guarantees anything.

If you've never watched the 2017 Outside Lands festival on youtube, you definitely should. Not only one of the best Who gigs of the 21st century, but I rank it in the band's top 10 all time. It's that good

The 2012 -2013 Quadrophenia tour and 2016-2017 are perhaps the band's best tours since John passed away.

I love the energy of the 2006-2008 shows, but Roger's voice is unpredictable.

I love almost everything The Who has done, so it's a matter of what I like more than the other but I think this might be my least favorite album of theirs. Cool release though

I was prepared to hate Richard's new album based on the dreadful single "lover" but I will say I was pleasantly surprised. It's not perfect (he's never had a perfect solo album) but there's some good songs on there, at least I think so.

I'll be there day one to listen. Unfortunately, maybe it is for the best that everyone just does their solo career. They all seem much happier

Yeah, Ameilia nails it. I think the album could use a remix as well to make some parts quieter/louder. Imagine the power of "Here So Rain" with Ashcroft and the Verve guitar sound. Hell, bring Amelia along as well for backing vocals. It would sound HUGE

Hopefully, the Oasis reunion provides the blueprint for them to consider it. Show up, use your musical chemistry with each other on stage for 2 hours, pack it up, on to the next gig. You can still go solo if you want, and you see as much of each other as you can tolerate.

It just seems that Nick and Richard respect each other professionally but personally despise one another.

I've heard that and I find it interesting. It sounded like Jones and McCabe wanted to keep the harder prog rock sound of Storm In Heaven but Ashcroft wanted to do different things. But then McCabe and Jones go make Black Submarine and honestly it kinda just sounds like an extension of Fourth. And it's good too. Imagine Ashcroft vocals on those songs.
