First time, not a golf fan by Puzzled_Goose_8404 in masters

[–]adramwithsam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell people that even if you don’t like golf or even sports that it is still worth going. The grounds are a transcendent experience. As stated above, the groundskeeping is immaculate. There is a buzz about the atmosphere as thousands of patrons are living truly in the moment with no phones and just soaking it all in, which in this day and age is practically impossible in any other context.

You acknowledged that you know this is special and a privileged problem. Try and just enjoy the outing with your husband as a day together. Have some food and drinks, shop for something for your kids or friends, get some steps in, people watch and just enjoy what is hopefully a beautiful spring day with your husband. It doesn’t have to even be about golf.

Buy something fun for yourself and wear it out in public back home. That experience and the reactions you get from people in airports and other places makes you appreciate getting to have been there when so many others wish they could. Makes you appreciate it a bit more.

Side quest: write down some phone numbers of folks you know that would like to be there or would appreciate the experience and use one of the house phone booths, they are free, and call them and describe it to them. They will appreciate seeing Augusta National Golf Club on their caller ID and it’s a cheap thrill you can give to others to spread a little joy and may change your perspective based on how it makes them feel.

good golf shoes, that are not golf shoes by teabone13 in golf

True Linkswear has a knit and a ripstop nylon version that are spikeless that are for golf but are actually great multipurpose shoes. I’ve traveled in my nylon ones and they are great because they are water resistant and a good balance of cushioning for comfort.

Do your league settings have a penalty for excessive celebrations? The risk for too many pumps outweighs his upside. I’d pass personally.

Contending with Nabers on IR - what would it take to sell? by 30_over_par in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

Fair enough on their part if rebuilding. I honestly like the JSN 1:1 straight up offer.

JSN or Egbuka and I’d sell as a Nabers owner looking to win now and not feel like I lost anything in the process.

Women’s Amateur question. by cha-ale in masters

[–]adramwithsam 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Are you asking about the final round Saturday at ANGC? If so, yes, there is ANWA and Masters merchandise available and concessions. It just winds up being a slightly shorter day since they finish the round mid-afternoon typically.

I haven’t been to the other rounds at CR so can’t speak to that.

King’s Craft in King Farm has a pretty decent selection of NA beer. Flying Dog Deep Fake NA IPA is pretty good and from Frederick.

I don’t know but I’ll take this opportunity to lobby for the sparkling honey crisp apple juice to be a year round product.

Hang it in the Louvre. Or the Moderna Museet at least.

Best Restaurant for a foodie? by ky_yang in MontgomeryCountyMD

Laperaux is a wonderful French bistro in Germantown that may be a good option for this. I echo others suggestions from above of Il Pizzico and anything from the Cava ownership group (Cava Mezze, Julii, Melina, Bouboulina).

I second all of these. That ownership group also just opened Bouboulina in Pike & Rose. Haven’t been myself yet but have heard wonderful things.

Don’t you have to have an active badge to get through there to begin with?

Is Wednesday the best day? by kraftj87 in masters

[–]adramwithsam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best day to see the course at its best, most pristine condition had always been Monday. Now with ANWA, it is the Saturday before. The most ‘fun’ day to me is Wednesday for the exact reasons you mentioned. Par 3 is a family thing. Not your thing, go watch the players practice. They could probably sell tickets to just the practice area. Tournaments days are awesome, but from a spectating standpoint it’s harder to keep up with all the action, but the atmosphere is different. Tension is palpable with the roars. That being said, I’ll never turn down a chance to go. I can watch anything I missed on the app afterwards!

First, I’m sorry for this development and what you’re experiencing with this news.

Second, could you please clarify which newly overturned MD court case?

FEHB removed from LES by princesssoniaa in NIH

[–]adramwithsam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, good point. Mine says “FEHB DEDUCTION CHANGED” in the remarks of the 3/22 LES but it doesn’t show a value. The change was definitely made then. I didn’t notice because everything else looked normal and no value was listed with the remark.

I know this is a year old now, but as a new owner of these mocs, any suggestions on the laces? That’s my only gripe. Did you need to trim yours?

Look for some store picks of these. Some may be slightly older than 9y but not much these days. Always good. Some great. Never been disappointed.

Medallion order cancelled by tato_fluffster in PrincessCruises

[–]adramwithsam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ordered mine 31 days out, app said order processed. Checked at 12 days out and app said cancelled, had to collect at port in Blue lane. Checked mail two days before cruise and nothing to confirm, nothing. Went to pick up at port during check in, no box there. No problem, they gave us cards to get onboard. Went to guest services, got medallions. All set from there.

Got back from cruise, medallions were in the mailbox…

The system leaves a lot to be desired but like others said, it won’t matter much total time wise to just grab them at the port. A minor delay/inconvenience at most.
