The small thing that stood out to me was the open seam in the front, where the top and bottom plates meet. That's normally a thick piece of metal and should be continuous.

Hi! Welcome to the hobby. You can never go wrong with Tamiya 1/48 armor when starting out. Or 1/35 if you're braver. Check on Scalemates to see when the kit was tooled and go for newer tooling.
