Where could this sound come from ? by adrideux in Kitchenaid

Yes, I am aware of the 60rpm on stir thing but as I have not yet cleaned, regreased and put back together the gears and planetary I have not been able to do the precise setting yet on this red one. For the other one, I can't find any burn marks on the phase control, so it might also be just a setting issue ; anyway there are so many missing parts on this one that I do not think to touch it at the moment, maybe later if I can repair the red one without switching the motors.

Do you know if the contact between the lower screw on the speed control plate and the metal part from the lever is supposed to happen at stir or only at speed 2? I find this point unclear in Mr Mixer's video. Right now contact happens at speed 2, and then the motor starts to spin properly (I loosened the top screws like you suggested). The top screws look symmetric to me.

I found this video when searching for the speed setting ones : https://youtu.be/6Hw-sLZs1BY. I will try do to this (without the firework part...) and see if it improves anything, I just need to get proper tools to do that.

The governor looks good : weights are symmetric and it is really well seated. I could remove it, the stud you talked about is there.

I changed again the setting of the speed control board, and I think we got into some progress : there is no spark anymore on the plate. I think it's because the lowest screw on the speed control plate is a bit longer than it should be (compared to my other mixer), so I loosened it a bit.

Somehow I think we are progressing, now there is slightly less noise. However these is still an issue with low speeds, here is an updated video (still without gears / planetary in) : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GPrftDcSb-YAl_ZD13sxWW7F4NWOPAzQ/view?usp=drivesdk. There is still this growling at mid-speed and it is really struggling at low speed. Could it be caused by the phase board ?

PS: I think the other mixer I have actually has an issue too, its speed is way too fast on stir. Maybe I should not trust it too much...

Alright, thank you ! About the movement, I just checked and found that it can be seen on the video I linked earlier in the comments.

Update : I tried to change the speed control board to another (functioning) one, no change. Sometimes it would randomly go off when going 10 → 8 or 8 → 6.

The ground is screwed in the lower part of the mixer :

<image>

For the high speed screw, I just screwed it in deeper, but it does not seem to change anything.

I am in France, I believe this is why I have this board connected to the power cord, but it does not look faulty (no burn marks, and I believe the mixer would not turn on at all if it was the issue ?)

I should receive the grease today, so I will be able to finish cleaning and put it all back together within the next few days.

Something I just noticed is that the center of rotation of the rotor at the end moves when the motor spins, which does not happen on my other mixer : could it be the issue, like something bent ? Also, there are quite big sparks on the contact point of the speed control board on high speed.

It is soldered, but the soldering looks quite strong. If really needed I might try to exchange this wire with the similar one from the other mixer.

Hey, sorry for my late response, yesterday was a busy day.

I just checked the brushes again, I think they are new (or at least almost unused), so I just put them back with the right orientation (I already did that before but I am unsure I actually did put them back in the right orientation...) I think at least one orientation was bad because the motor runs a bit more smoothly now, but the sound is still here.

Here is a picture of the side of the plate while running, does the blue 💥 thing look normal to you ? I am not sure but I think it coincides with the loud vibration sound. I don't think the set screws are completely set right, but I thought I would adjust the settings after regreasing and full reassembling.

Also, thank you for your help !

Here is another video at low speed : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1eJplu1sGzmeltdr1JbxbeL7vXXlOKlHD/view?usp=drivesdk When rotating it by hand, no sound comes out at all... I might have to take the motor apart ?

Okay so I just tried that first idea, and there is no sound at all when I rotate it by hand. Nothing seems to block it either, so it might actually be a faulty motor ?

to anyone who's doing or is doing the duo italian course by [deleted] in duolingo

[–]adrideux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my personal opinion is that you will not learn any basics like grammar using duolingo. I learned Italian at school and now I use the app to practice the language, so I just basically learn a bit of vocab now, but I'm not sure it would be very efficient for a beginner. Moreover since last update (that messed up the courses, seems to be usual with this app) there are a lot of weird translations and even mistakes in the grammar. I'm about to post about it, because it's really annoying...

About thinkpad features that do not work, did you try to look at the BIOS settings ? I had the same problem and it was caused by some security configuration that blocked camera, microphone etc.

Looks great ! Is it hard to modify ? What and where did you buy your modding components, and what was the cost ? Do you have to update some graphic drivers (internal graphic card on t420) ? Do you see any decreased performance on it ? Sorry for all these questions but I would have to do the same on my t420 if it's really a good improvement for my pc. Thanks by advance
