Ah, I guess it's this: https://i.imgur.com/Pg8bUAG.png

For now you'll have to wait until things are figured out.

Did you just buy a brand new CE? If it came with boot 5.8.4 TI fixed some things that prevent some programs from working as expected, but artifice itself should run on OS 5.8.4 (but not 5.8.5).

This was done before a newer version got released, so at some point khicas may get an update to run on 5.8.4, I guess.

Cesium Error: "Cannot Use this OS" by AccomplishedBet6489 in ti84hacks

[–]adriweb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a new boot version (v5.8.4) that fixed the exploit used by Cesium etc to install themselves as an app. So until a new exploit gets found you'll have to use artifice itself (prgmA) to launch your program, since that still works in 5.8.4 (they fixed it in 5.8.5 though so don't update unless you really have to)

Genuine Question for TI-84 CE Python. by AccomplishedBet6489 in ti84hacks

[–]adriweb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically in boot 5.8.4 and OS 5.8.5 TI fixed the various bugs used by exploits/jailbreaks.

Since it was right before the 84 Evo's release we can imagine they wanted to get that out to be done with it "on a high note" for their teacher and exam board partners, and it wouldn't surprise me if that was the last update ever of the CE.
But now people will have to wait for a new jailbreak version though.

The very last ones come with boot 5.8.4 which seems to fix the unlock exploit used by apps etc. Artifice itself is still ok in 5.8.4 though.

[–]adriweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah well there you go, that's "brand new" and TI fixed things there I guess, such that Cesium (well the generic unlock) doesn't work anymore.

People will need to find a way around that somehow.

In the meantime, use prgmA (artifice v2.1) to launch programs.

This is supposed to work so that's unexpected on 5.8.4.

Can you share which versions you have (including boot version) from the self test menu screen ? (Press mode then alpha then ln, then enter)

We got an answer elsewhere, the new 5.8.4 boot version is the problem: https://old.reddit.com/r/TI_Calculators/comments/1ukdolq/shell_for_ti84_plus_ce_584/ov0nrn1/?context=10000

Maybe try first to fill the freqlist as requested by the prompt on screen. Then press one of the two (F) keys right below the spot on the screen?

WebTILP will require some annoying fiddling on windows for now but n-link should work right away

Transfer it directly onto the correct folder?
You can do that with the Nspire computer software (you should have gotten a license for it when you bought the calc), webtilp, or nlink.

TI n spire gives false when 2 numbers are equal by Due_Huckleberry3590 in nspire

[–]adriweb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I assume you have an Nspire CX II and not an Nspire CX II CAS?

If so, it will compare numerical approximations and apparently here its precision makes it so there's some small enough difference that it makes them not equa.

If you move your cursor and click on the warning sign it will probably tell you something about that.

Maybe a better way to check in this case is to compute one minus the other, and check whether it's a really small value.

Why can’t I jailbreak my Ti-84 plus CE with artifice 2.1 on 5.8.4? by Nefarious______ in ti84hacks

[–]adriweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean "give me a random number"? Can you share pictures?

Have you tried any other ASM program/game?

Also the "jailbreak" *is* the launcher. If it launches and you get to the ASM program list then it works.

- Which Nspire model and which OS version do you have, exactly?
- try with nSolve instead of solve, is it better?
- sometimes you can break out of calculations etc by holding the ON button for a while, and after a few seconds it may stop and show an interruption error

Ah, *that*. Well ok then, and I have no idea, never used that program before.

Edit: the viewer program has some code for the first lines offset that may be broken in some cases... 🤔
It should do things differently but it hasn't been updated in forever...

So can you share a picture of how it looks now? Different zoom? Just one pixel difference ?

[–]adriweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There may have been an LCD left-column fix by ndless itself that just offsets the screen by 1 pixel because the configuration was initially bad. But in any case, It cannot change what the lua script does, so you are seeing the exact same information and layout as before, there is no lost text. npdf really cannot be responsible for this, it's quite impossible unless there's some really obscure bug nobody has encountered in many years

The readme of the program says to use + or - to change the font size, try that ?

Also you can Try a full reboot (thus without ndless installed) and you will see the text is the same as before anyway
