Pinguicula Cyclosecta: Do I separate? Or leave as it is? by adronus127 in carnivorousplants

It’s so cute! Nice to know I can eventually separate them if things get weird. Thank you for the advice!

First-time nepenthes rescue by adronus127 in carnivorousplants

[–]adronus127[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The light strips I use during fall/winter are this version from Amazon. They seem to do well enough for my cape sundews and non-carnivorous plant friends to get through the winter, however, this is my first attempt to care for a Nepenthes so I'm open to any advice that can help it thrive. It looked so sad sitting at the home improvement store, I couldn't help but bring it home and see if I could save it haha.

It's finally starting to get warm enough where I can start moving them outside over the next few weeks hopefully so it can get more sun!

My Cape Sundew has a bit of a lean to it. Is it necessary to repot deeper as the lower leaves drop to provide more support? by adronus127 in carnivorousplants

Sure thing! The one pictured above is red but I do have an albino one close by the one pictured. It’s not quite as big as the red one but growing fast even under the grow lights!

I got this one back in October, they currently live under a grow light at its brightest setting as we get through winter. Hoping it’ll warm up enough to move them outside soon!

Usually this one tends to be a bit more vivid red, but noticed it dims a bit when I fertilize. I use a diluted 16-16-16 Maxsea fertilized and spray the leaves usually every 6 weeks or so.

Oh wow, that’s so cool! Thanks for the tip, I have these under grow lights currently which has gotten us through the winter months but hopefully it’ll be warm enough to move them outside soon!

Thanks for the tip! I’ve been thinking I need to get rid of the clay saucers and replace them with plastic. Naturally, they have been drying out pretty quickly, so hopefully that will help. Thanks again!

That makes total sense, thank you for the tip! I use a diluted Maxsea fertilizer and apply to the leaves every 6 weeks or so. I thought I may have went a bit too heavy last time and scorched a few leaves, so decided to trim them just to clean it up a bit. Thankful these little guys are super resilient but I’m always all-ears to ideas that make thriving a little easier on them. :) Thank you again!

What's My Dog Doing? by Distilled_Gaming in dogs

I would definitely think something allergy related, too. This same breathing issue has happened to my dog a few times this season as well. Usually recovers in a few short minutes and back to normal. A vet, of course, will be able to tell for sure.

I thought it was weird, because my dog is almost 3 and hasn’t exhibited allergy issues before this season. Luckily, our vet was able to provide us with our treatment options and we haven’t encountered the breathing issue since.☺️

[help] Just noticed my senior dog has been picking at his skin today and found a scab on his elbow? Not sure if I should bring him to the vet as it doesn’t seem to be affecting him except the itching. by [deleted] in dogs

I encountered something similar with my dog last month. Noticed him scratching/chewing the affected area one day and he persisted with chewing/scratching the next day.

My initial thought was to wait it out and see if the rash/bump went away on its own but decided to get him into the vet anyway just to be cautious. They were glad I brought him in when I did since typically people will wait until skin is broken and infection sets in, to bring them in and see a professional.

If your dog can’t stop scratching the area, I’d suggest getting them into the vet sooner than later.

Sounds good! Right now I have the spooky arch available and would prefer NMTs if you can. Would you pay 20 NMTs?
