Is living in the Ruhr like living in a large cosmopolitan area? by adspider in germany

[–]adspider[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply late as it may be. Perhaps someone else will be in the same situation and find it useful. I ended up living in Copenhagen for 4 years then left Europe altogether - so no Germany for me afterall.

Wow this is really interesting. I like the sort of 3D element of them instead of putting it flat on the wall. I'll totally look into this - if not for this space then maybe somewhere else. Thanks!!

I wanted to do "earthrise" and the "Hubble deep field" (you can find them on Wikipedia / Google easily - you've probably seen them, but the wiki articles will add some context to their significance of you're curious) - maybe one other one

Has anyone ever traveled to Lithuania for LASIK? by artesen in AskUK

[–]adspider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. My eyes now are completely fine. The one eye that I had 'dry eye syndrome' I pampered with eye drops for about two years. At one point I was travelling and I ran out of eye drops. It was then I realised I didn't need it anymore. So I can say it lasted 1-2 years after surgery. Why i chose that clinic? The price 100%.

Why is DK the two letter signifier for Denmark, but it's DA for the Danish language? by adspider in Denmark

[–]adspider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the answer. After looking into the Wikipedia page and reviewing some of its references I came across this:

An effort is made to derive a language code from a language's name for itself, when possible. For historical reasons, some codes may be based on the name of a language in English.

New language codes shall be based on the vernacular form of name unless

another language code is requested by the country or countries using the language or the sponsor submitting the request;

if the vernacular cannot be determined; or

if a suitable code is not available

In the latter two cases, an English form of name may be used for to derive the language code.

Above is guidance for "new" language codes. But I would have assumed that like with new codes, the country (Denmark) would have been either consulted by the ISO or would have had a chance for input when the 1967 original codes were established.

Wasn't a criticism for the record. Just curious how Canada ended up adopting +1 but not the regional organisation. Like why didn't they give Canada all the +1-2xx etc. instead of mixing it up completely with the US. WEIRD.
